They could start by not showing up an hour and 45 minutes late. Next, be upfront about the cost and clear about expectations. I hired him to remove junk from my home for a quoted $400 and even sent pictures of everything that needed to go. Because of his messy method of just tossing things into the trailer, what should’ve fit in one load ended up taking up the whole space with only about half the items. I should’ve trusted my gut and told him to forget it after he was so late, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. We’d also talked about him helping move items to my new place and then taking the leftover junk. He gave me a quote, but tonight he texted saying it would be another $400 for him to return, claiming the job took five hours and adding fuel charges—like I’d hired him from Fresno, even though he was in Sonora when he made the bid. On top of that, he argued with me and sent three pictures out of the 11 or so I’d uploaded, insisting that’s all I sent, which was laughable—as if I’d really pay $400 for just three items. Totally unprofessional.
