Many students come to me feeling lost in math. One 3rd grader, for example, was really struggling with basic subtraction and borrowing. We slowed things down, reviewed the foundations, and worked step by step. By 4th grade, she had not only mastered those skills but was confidently flying through her multiplication tables.
For over 26 years, as a one-on-one math tutor, I’ve helped students just like her who have fallen a bit behind and are missing key pieces. I focus on identifying and filling those gaps so they can catch up to grade level and build real confidence.

We have been working with Amy for several months now. Amy is passionate and I often think she may be kids’ mind reader. My two boys (ages 8 and 10 now) have been working with Amy for 2 years. They love her and always look forward to working with her. Amy has been able to keep my younger one's attention (not easy) while they do relevant math problems together. With her help, my younger one has been able to stay at level with math. Amy has been challenging my older son with on-line games and puzzles that are just above his current level. Amy mixes it up sometimes and does cooking activities, too! My rates begin at $35 for a half hour. Students pay on a monthly basis.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
For our first couple sessions, my goal is to get to know the students and analyze any gaps in learning or skills that we can hone in on.

I am a credentialed teacher with over 25 years experience. I have been a classroom teacher as well as a tutor for Sylvan Learning Center.
