About
Seeing a student go from feeling frustrated to feeling confident is an amazing sight.
I believe that people learn best when comfortable and relaxed, so I strive to make learning fun and interesting.
Being able to touch physical 3d shapes when learning how to calculate volume of a 3d shape, and being able to see and touch a physical difference between (3+x) vs (3x) can make all the difference for someone struggling with the abstract concepts of geometry and algebra.
Playing a competitive multiplication card game is more appealing to most students than being quizzed with flash cards.
I am active in the homeschool community and I do work with homeschool students. I am happy to recommend appropriate curriculums or help support students in any curriculum they're already using.
I do have daytime, late evening, and weekend availability.
I am comfortable working with and helping motivate reluctant high school students who do anything they can think of to get out of doing the work. I do offer executive functioning coaching such as checking overall grades in all classes for missing work or looking to see if any assignments are due soon and helping get started or finished with whatever is close to due.

Manda is a wonderful tutor for my kid!! She he makes the math learning process fun as she makes it interactive and my child loves that! She is very knowledgeable, creative, compassionate and professional. We have recently started working with Manda but I can already tell as a parent that my child is enjoying learning new skills with her as I have never seen before and is strengthening those he already had. I highly recommend Manda as a mathtutor.

Amanda arrived early to our initial appointment and was courteous and professional. Amanda completed an assessment on my childs areas of concern in math and was able to provide immediate feedback on areas where my child needs assitance. Amanda provided next steps that we should take to accelerate my childs development, and was flexible with scheduling our next math session for our son.

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I typically charge $50 per hour or $30 per half hour.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
In the first meeting I do a short assessment to determine which skills your student has mastered and where the gaps in understanding are. The assessment is quick, so after identifying the specific skills we need to build on, we jump right in and get started building those skills. At the end of the first session, I go over the assessment results and we set goals together. If there is homework with a tight deadline, I will assess skills as we work on the work that is due instead.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I began working as a tutor in high school when friends of my family hired me to help their children with homework. I love tutoring so I've made a career out of helping students learn.
