I worked with Michael Teak to take some fashion-oriented photos for my portfolio and he was nothing short of phenomenal. Michael clearly commands deep knowledge of photography; I was impressed by his use of light and the both prowess and creativity he brought to the shoot. His experience as a model also allows him to give poignant advice on posing and how to create great photographs. He is also kind and a fun person to work with--he does a great job at putting people at ease. Not only did I get some great images but I learned an immense amount from Michael during the shoot and enjoyed myself. I would recommend Michael to anyone and believe he's one of the best photographers in the Denver Area I've encountered.Sep 4, 2018Verified
Michael was a pleasure to work with. He met with me to discuss the type and use of photos that I was looking for, making sure the session was a great experience. He recommended a great location, providing multiple photo alternatives. Overall, fantastic experience and photos!May 2, 2018Verified
At $65 per image, in addition to the photo shoot fees, this is not an inexpensive option. On the other hand, for us it was worth it to work with Michael to get our daughter’s “senior portraits ». This was a very last-minute thing on our part, but Michael was incredibly accommodating and before we even met he spent a lot of time chatting by phone with our daughter to figure out her vision for the pictures, and then brought his considerable talent to bear to make sure the photos really captured the many sides of her personality. She wanted outdoor photography and Michael was game to do this, even in the wind, rain, and snow of a spring day in Boulder. Our only regret is that we couldn’t afford to purchase all of the gorgeous images he captured that day. I’ll try to attach a picture or two, but they might just be screen shots of the proofs - not the final, retouched images - since I’m doing this from my iPhone. :)Apr 29, 2018Verified
Absolutely amazing to work with! He went above and beyond my expectations for my son's senior photo shoot. My son said he loved the experience, and that is really what was important to me. We will be getting the proofs in about a week and I am so excited. Michael really has an eye for the locations and lighting. I have another project coming up very soon and will definitely be hiring him for it. Classy, professional, nice, and a great photographer five stars for sure!Oct 9, 2017Verified
Best ever. His way with the experience blows away all other photographers. Felt like I was actually a model. Highly recommendSep 29, 2017Verified
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I started off in the fashion industry as a model back in 1998, which took me all over the world. I was fortunate to work with top photographers like Mark Seliger and Peter Lindbergh, as well as countless others. Over time I developed an eye for lighting and angles, figuring out how to showcase people in the best way. Just as importantly, I learned what it’s like to be on both ends of the camera, and how to communicate with and direct a client through a shoot, all while having fun!
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take? While I do often work with experienced models and actors, recently I had a few clients who weren’t all that excited about the idea of being in front of the camera- which is very common as well. Once we got going I coached them and joked with them until we were all having a good time, and the images turned out great! These sessions were each around two hours, but the session lengths usually range between one and four hours, sometimes more depending on the number of people and what we’re going for.
