Reviews for Boulder popcorn texture removal specialists

It pains me to give such a negative review to Brett, considering we did have a good relationship through most of the project but unfortunately we paid for a project not for a friendship. Issue 1: Poorly hung ceiling boards! At the end of our project we got into a heated discussion about the level of finish agreed upon but our issue with Brett is not related to the smoothness of the texture but how the boards are installed. After 3 attempts to fix one of the cracks it is still isn't fixed, and is now 10x worse then before. In addition there are now cracks at each seam across majority of the ceiling. As a contractor who hangs drywall for a living I would expect cracks to not be visible after a job is completed and majority of the cracks appeared within weeks if not days after completion. Issue 2: Cutting holes to the right size - If a gang box is on the wall I expect each hole to be cut to an appropriate size that we can easily cover any gaps with the cover. On EACH hole there was at least a 1/2 inch gap that we needed to go back fix. If we simply put the cover plate on the socket/switch a gap would be visible on all sides. This issue of cutting drywall incorrectly also applied to ceiling light holes which we've also had to patch up and cutting to the appropriate height for the windows to allow for the window sill - they took the sill out and should have ensure that it could go back as needed. Issue 3: Mudding and taping - ensure you are both on the same page about what the outcome will be at the end and do your research about the different levels so you are aware of what is being discussed. Where we are still not satisfied is with regards to not enough mud applied to the connecting seams on drywall boards. Funnily enough in the ceiling where we have cracking issues they seemed to be covered sufficiently but on our walls it is another situation. On two large walls, where full size boards were used there are still visible indents in the walls from a lack on mud. Again we asked him to fix them up after they were done but still not to a level that is appropriate - smooth or texture. Issue 4: Doesn't hold to timelines - We were told that our project would take 6 days and in the end he was at our house for 4 weeks, with many nights going until 8+ at night. As we initially were impressed with his level of detail we didn't question the extension in the project as we knew it was because he was doing it right. However as highlighted above it seems that in the end it wasn't as detail and quality oriented as we initially thought. Issue 5: Big attitude - Throughout the project we had no issues and actually got a long really well, especially considering he was here for 4 weeks. But as highlighted in the issues and problems which should be standard expectations he got very argumentative. In our last engagement, when he came back to fix the cracks for the 3rd time he was simple rude and very disrespectful. As agreed to in a signed contract we had 1 week to assess the results from the last crack fix. I contacted him within the agreed timeframe and said the cracks were back. It took over 6 weeks for him to return and when he finally came he only fix 3 feet of a 10 foot seem and refused to fix the other crack. He argued that I had sent him photos of only one crack and that is all that he is fixing, however that was not the case. I actually left him a voice message which he couldn't find and reference. The entire time he was at the house was the most uncomfortable I've been in his presence. Initially we were really impressed with Brett's attention to detail, assessing everything and making sure we took everything into consideration. He started off assisting us with popcorn removal which we were very satisfied with. Within a few weeks we realized that we needed to take the whole ceiling down and thus the next phase of the project expanded significantly - walls and 900SF of ceiling. The project started off well, even to the point that he gave me advice about how to build a pony wall and even assisted me with ordering wood - which I'm appreciative of, but as highlight we ran into a lot of issues in his quality in the end. We are now going to have to hire to another contractor to come back and fix the issues that he left us with.
