Introduction: Beautiful Habitat was born of my belief that the home is a personal space; a habitat where you should feel completely at ease and which reflects your personality and the way you live. A well-designed habitat truly improves the quality of life for those living and working in it. After years in a successful career in international business, I chose to focus completely on my lifelong passion for interior design and decorating. I moved to London, England and studied at both the prestigious Chelsea College of Art & Design and KLC School of Design. Having the opportunity to live, study and work overseas combined with extensive international travel has positively influenced my designs and ability to work with a variety of people. I am a certified member of Designer Society of America, having passed the Residential Interior Design Exam, an industry standard. Please visit my DSA portfolio. I am currently working toward certifications in Sustainable Design and Kitchen and Bath Design in Denver, Colorado. Good design solutions are not only beautiful, but solve problems and help my clients “live better” in their homes. It is about transforming a home into your home.

My family and I are extremely happy with the work done by Beautiful Habitat. Not only does the design fit our taste perfectly, but it also fits our lifestyle. We stayed within budget and the projects were all finished on time. We complete our living room, dining room and kitchen. Many of our existing pieces were incorporated into the design, thus making the final product very personal. With two kids, we needed a way to keep the rooms tidy while being able to maintain the systems put in place to do so. The solutions by Beautiful Habitat worked wonderfully and we continue to use them two years later. We believe we'll enjoy these rooms in our home for years. And, when we finish our basement, we will certainly be calling Beautiful Habitat again!

We've started using Beautiful Habitat a little over 3 years ago. We really were struggling with how to make our home reflect "us" and the things we loved. We had a hodge podge of stuff but didn't really feel like it flowed very well. We also needed help transitioning our daughter into her own "big girl" room but weren't interested in themes that would be fleeting. Tennille was amazingly detailed in her interview with us about what we were looking for, troubled areas, items we loved, items we were wanting to get rid of but kept holding onto, etc. She was also equally interested in talking to our daughter to find out what she loved or wanted for her new room! She helped us set a realistic budget and she held to it. She gave us a list of priorities and ideas for the future. We could not have been more pleased with the results - every area she touched was so much warmer, so much more us and focused on the "stuff/details" that we loved. Our daughter was equally as thrilled with her big girl room and we're very happy that 3 years later - it still is something she loves. We just signed on to update our nursery for our son, so looking very forward to his "big boy" room! I'd definitely recommend Beautiful Habitat for projects large or small. We continue to use Tennille as our life changes, so our home can evolve in a way that's beautiful as well!

FAQs

  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I recently won an award for a Kitchen design in Boulder, CO. Read about it here: http://www.beautifulhabitat.com/beautiful-habitat-wins-at-nkba-peak-awards/

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

I often hear clients say they are looking for a designer that “matches their style”, meaning they look at portfolios and choose designers that have rooms with a “look” that the client wants. What I’d like them to know is that a good designer can design in any style. What is more important is choosing a designer based on a good personality fit and comfort level. This is a long term relationship and you want to ensure you can work well together.
