We are in the middle of the puppy sessions but things are going really well. Kara is a good teacher and leaves pages of notes for each session. She has great tips and tricks too to help my puppy and me learn how to act!!

Kara was great…we only met once but she gave me a lot of training tips. My dog is a Husky and not very treat motivated, which is part of Kara’s training program.

Kara provided lots of helpful advice. It was quite helpful to have her physically in our home to identify our habits that were detracting from Daisy being properly trained. We are hopeful moving forward Daisy stops having accidents! We also worked on impulse control which Daisy ended up being very good at!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I believe that training your pet at your home helps improve their behavior in the environment in which they live. Polite Pooches works with you both so that you will have success when I'm not around. Find my details at:

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Earning my national certification (CPDT-KA) was a pain-staking effort, but well worth it. This entailed proof of several hundred hours of training dogs (every hour had to be verified and signed for by a superior), and the written test was pretty grueling too. It tests mastery in teaching skills, learning theory (how dogs learn), ethology, equipment, and animal husbandry. I believe a well-versed trainer is something everyone should look for. And if I cannot answer your questions, I have a community of 700 trainers world-wide to seek a solution. And even if I don't become your trainer, please find a positive-reinforcement ONLY trainer. Our dogs deserve kindness and respect, not intimidation and pain, when they learn.
