FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing system is not complicated. I look at the amount of time it should take to do the job and price it accordingly. I charge a small corporation approximately $100 per month based on the work of 10 hours monthly. Sometimes it takes a few hours more, but they are charged the $100 because that is the pricing we agreed upon. The pricing is negotiated.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I don't take classes through the college system since receiving my degree five years ago. I keep up-to-date on the Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP) and tax laws which affect the clients I work with. I purchase books and computer programs that keep me current in my profession and do continual research and study online programs.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
In high school I excelled at business courses, such as bookkeeping, typing, business management and finance. One month after graduating from high school I was offered a job as Accountant for a non-profit and really grew to love working with numbers and putting all the detailed information together for the Board of Directors, the County Commissioners and the State. The non-profit received money from the County and State to help fund the programs, part of my job was to present the financial information to these organizations to continue our funding. I received compliments from CPA firms that my abilities were superior, especially since I did not have a college degree in accounting. It gave me the confidence to pursue Accounting jobs since that time.
