Chauncey from El Paso Appliance explained on the phone even before I hired him for the job that he needed to order the parts and that it’s very labor intense. He quoted me a price and I appreciated his honesty. He ordered the parts and came one day after he received the parts. He was very neat as he was here for several hours repairing the washing machine. Before he left, he noticed that the tape around my dryer had pulled away and he retaped it for me.

I thought I needed a new washer when all that was needed was to replace a cracked hose. I was told that I have one of the best washers ever made, and replacing it would be quite costly and not as efficient.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing is competitive with most other companies. The old saying is " Good work is never cheap, and cheap work is never good." I always provide a one year labor warranty and typically 90 day, or whatever the manufacture offers, on parts.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I do my best to be upfront and be clear with my customers. I try to offer different solutions that may be more cost effective. ie ebay or amazon. Used parts vs new. I will always explain if we need to work on a primary problem and that there may be an underlaying problem that will have to be addressed. There is never a charge for additional work for underlaying issues.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Being a handyman and former auto mechanic, I have plenty of understanding of how things work. I'm able to read schematics and test components rather than just guess and replace parts. I am working on my type 1 refrigeration license. this is a long process and the tools for working on refrigeration, are costly and need certification as well. it's been a slow process, but it's coming along.
