Introduction: I'd like to invite you to you build skills that can improve your relationships with others and with yourself. There are skills like the one I'm about to share with you that can last a lifetime. Often, clients will come in with multiple concerns and they can feel overwhelmed with the challenges they are facing. In counseling you will be guided with expert help in developing a plan for you to achieve your personal goals. One small step at a time can make a big difference. Now for that skill: First, make sure you are in a place where you can be still for a moment. Please use your best judgment, no driving or walking while trying this skill for the first time. In fact, it's best if you're seated in a safe and comfortable place. Practice taking one deep breath, inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth. Now, breathe naturally and as you breathe, notice the temperature of the air you're breathing. Is it cooler or warmer than your body temperature? Great--the exercise you've just completed was breathing in a mindful manner. That's one skill you can use to give yourself a mini break. ​During counseling with me you can expect to receive acceptance and therapeutic support while you define goals, and strengthen your: relationships, self-acceptance, awareness, focus, and more depending on your goals. In turn, you will gain skills from Interpersonal Psychotherapy for relationship strengthening. While you explore your process and define meaning you will develop greater understanding through Existential therapy. Mindfulness is valuable in building awareness of your daily experiences: ups, downs, and all the things that happen in between. Solution-Focused Brief Therapy is a fantastic coaching process for making quick adjustments and moving forward. Please feel free to ask if you have questions about my approach. Counseling is a partnership. The most important aspect to an effective therapeutic relationship is that you feel comfortable with and trust that you and your therapist are working toward the same goal. Let's work toward your goal at your pace.​ Counseling is a beautiful process and I love helping people achieve their goals. It requires hard work and commitment to learn the skills you need to heal and move forward. But once you know when and how to apply your skills they can become second-nature.
