Introduction: I believe my gardening stands out for a couple reasons. I am a native (6 generation native to be exact), and coming from a family of gardeners from Colorado Springs, I have extensive knowledge of what plants do well in our zone as well as what plants will not do well with our ever-changing weather patterns.
I also believe in alternative ways to control weeds and insects without using chemicals if at all possible.
Furthermore, in Colorado Springs we have a lot of wildlife, which is great...until the deer have eaten your flowers for dinner! I have found something organic that the plants LOVE, and send the deer running!
I get asked a lot about the above mentioned subjects as well as things like 'How do I build a water-saving garden with plants that tolerate low water supply and extreme heat?"or "What plants are toxic to cats and dogs, or even children?"
With every single question I'm asked, I make absolute SURE that if I DON'T know the answer, I will research it until I DO. That is a guarantee with A New Leaf.
I read a quote once that said something like "Never give up on something you can't go a day without thinking about", and when I read those words, I knew exactly what I needed to do...start my own gardening business. I love everything about what I do. I love being outside, the Colorado sunshine, the way a flower tends to dance in the breeze, and watching something small grow into something strong and beautiful. I believe a gardener should treat plants like any other living thing.
Another thing I love about the work I do, is the motivation I get from the gratification of watching a client's yard become a place that they love to be in. I love meeting new people, and being able to take their vision and CREATE it. Seeing the smile on their face makes all the hard work worth it.
