Very detailed work, great communication, and feedback during the project. I would recommend them and will use them again should we have another painting project come up.Jul 21, 2019Verified
My wife and I hired Lacey and Damien (L&D's) to paint our upstairs (2 bedrooms, hallway, stairwell) in our townhome. We picked them out of 3 bids due to their likability, our desire to support a new business and price. Be aware, if you hire them, they live in Alamosa and in most cases will commute back-and-forth to do the job. Due in part to this distance and unforeseen circumstances, timeliness/punctuality was very poor. This made for very frustrating interactions from the beginning. We were originally scheduled to begin painting on a Wednesday but they didn't begin until Friday night, for a couple of hours. They did arrive early on Saturday which was nice. The job was supposed to be 3-4 days but ended up about 8 days. We told them we used higher quality paint downstairs (Sherwin-WIlliams Emerald line) and wanted upstairs painted the same color. We paid them extra for SW paint and they got the very cheapest line they could get. They primed the walls and put a coat down and the coverage was ok, not professional. I showed them and they agreed (with pause) to do a second coat and bought better quality SW paint. This made the job look a lot better. My concern was they were going to settle for an "ok" job if we wouldn't have spoken up. Damien complained about purchasing more expensive paint though if they had done that to begin with, one coat probably would have been enough. To their credit they worked hard and did a good job overall (after second coat). They put in long hours. We were left satisfied in the end and this would have been a 3 or 4 star review; however, Lacey & Damien very disrespectfully dumped watered down paint (perhaps from cleaning brushes) on the pavement on the road. These paint stains are still present even after rainstorms. Who does something like this? Not a professional. It was shocking to see the next morning. I want to give Lacey a shout-out for working hard, not complaining, and trying her best to put on a smile and make us happy. Due in part to the headaches of delays, poor punctuality, and especially dumping paint on our pavement, I can not recommend L&D Custom Creations.Sep 11, 2019VerifiedL & D's Custom Creations Ltd.'s reply
I am sorry you feel that way Mike, but remember there are 2 sides to every story and you are not being up front about everything we DID do, along side the constant harassment and insults. This is why I had to block your number. But I will not try to list everything, but I will say the spilled tinted water was not a malicious act, it was an accident that I did not even notice after spotlessly cleaning your floors on my hands and knees. Thank you for your business and pointing out all our faults that we will improve upon and better our company. I do ask that you please leave this situation here and stop slamming us on the internet. This is our livelihood and we are just human.
We are at the tail-end of a complete renovation of our home in Westcliffe CO and needed someone to help us finish up a long list of smaller “honey-dos” items. I found L&D Custom Creations (Lacy and Damien) on Thumbtack. This husband and wife team responded to my query very quickly and we scheduled a time for them to come to our house. The communication was excellent and included text messages alerting us as to their ETA. They work quickly and efficiently and are a thoroughly professional, delightful couple with which to work. Damien pointed out issues and was honest with regard to what could and could not be done allowing us to figure other options to achieve our goals. Our list of taskers is extensive, so Lacy and Damien have already been at our home twice and we’ve hired them for several other projects. To date, they repaired a septic leach field vent pipe, hung several extremely heavy custom made mirrors for over the bathroom vanities, multiple floating shelves, towel bars, etc. – among other things. We’ve hired them to replace an exterior door, paint exterior window frames, paint a new French door we’ve installed – and many other things as we find them. I believe Damien is qualified to do more extensive projects requiring a higher skill set, nevertheless, he willingly has handled our list of smaller items. They even helped me lay down a heavy oriental rug and move other heavier items to storage. Lacy and Damien are so extremely helpful and are actually enjoyable to have around. We highly, highly recommend this dynamic duo.Jun 30, 2019Verified
We have used L&D's Custom Creations three times now: 1) Various small construction and picture hanging when we moved into our new home; 2) Refinish an antique table; 3) Clean, scrape and paint the front and back porches. Each time, Lacey and Damien completed the job professionally, and with great care. If anything, they are generous with their time, sometimes making them a little late for appointments, but we understand when there are jobs to do. Everything was done with care and attention to detail. We intend to use them again. Michele and Bob Goldschmidt.Sep 11, 2019L & D's Custom Creations Ltd.'s reply

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Every bid is tailored for the specific job and a new estimate is created for each customer. No bid is alike, same as our customers! We do our best to keep competitive and fair prices. We are flexible in adjusting materials to meet our customers budget!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? Most importantly we would like our customer to feel comfortable with & trust us! First we establish your preferred means of communication. Next we will reach out to earn your trust and talk about your project. Then we will schedule a visit to evaluate your project in person. Upon arrival we will have you guide a walkthrough of your project. At this time we will explain how we will accomplish your goals & what materials will be needed. After completed walkthrough we should have an agreed understanding of the process. When we are all in unity and have received your confirmation we will reveal our estimate. It is extremely important to us that you know it will be done respectfully, in a timely manner, & correctly! We work diligently to keep our estimated cost! If there are unforeseen circumstances / events that may arise we will communicate and get approval before adding ANY new costs to your invoice! If by some chance we are unable to take on your project, ( may be out of our skill set, needs permit, needs to be done by a licensed tradesman), we will inform you!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I possess life long building and construction skills, I am still learning new things all the time. I love to learn & apply newly gained knowledge to my projects.
