Lana is a very talented piano instructor. She is extremely musical and patient and I absolutely love her teaching style. For me, she has succeeded in rekindling a love for piano and a desire to play well. I am so excited for class each week. Thank you Lana. You are a gem!

I’ve seen two sides to Lana’s teaching, and they’re both wonderful. As her tuner, I’ve seen her interact with her students. She uses many creative methods (including visual aids and recording) to convey her lessons, depending on what level the students are. And her students have told me that they improve more quickly with her than with their other teachers. She makes the time fun to keep people interested (no rulers on knuckles), but she also wants them to learn as much as they can. I like that she is flexible enough to teach someone just to play around by ear if that’s all they want to do, but that she can also discuss the complex issues of concert pieces from the masters. After all, she was trained at the Russian Kazan Conservatory. From the personal side, she was easy to work with concerning my own lessons. When I’d miss a note, she’d gently ask if maybe that note should have been played a different way. When I couldn’t take lessons every week, she encouraged me to just come as much as I could. I recommend Lana to all my customers who ask about teachers in the area, and I’d recommend her to you too.

I hired Lana to teach my elementary school-aged son how to play the piano. For two years she taught him theory, sound, sight-reading, chords and much more that I can't remember because I am not a musically inclined person. My son still practices and plays to this day. He went on to teach himself how to play the guitar. She taught him what the love of music is all about!

Ms. Lana Smith is the best teacher I have ever experienced. She loves teaching music and this is evident in her interactions with students of all ages. She stays current on teaching methods and practices. She doesn't just teach a student to play the piano, she instills a lifelong love of all things music. She is brilliant, kind, gentle, encouraging, patient and a joy to be with. The best!
