I’ve been studying bass with Alex for over a year now. He’s a great teacher and I’ve seen a lot of growth in my playing! I love the way he teaches music theory. He presents it in a way that’s actually applicable to music and songs we learn, not just as some abstract concept. I highly recommend Alex!

I played bass for a few years a while back but then took a break for a few years. When I picked up the instrument again I wanted to work with someone who would fill in the holes in my knowledge and help me build a better foundation than I had been able to build as a self-taught bass player. The pro drummer in my band recommended Alex, so I went with that recommendation and I'm glad I did. Alex is he's helping me not just play songs, but learn exactly what I was missing: the foundation I need to be conversant with to play ANY song. I'm also a fan of really paying attention to detail, and he's great at that too. And although it should go without saying, I'll say it anyway: he's professional, punctual, responsive, engaging, and enjoyable too. Definitely give Alex a try!

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I like to give students an opportunity to get to know me as a teacher so I offer a free trial lesson!

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Lessons are structured based on the students goals and interests. I have a deep understanding of music theory and can read music. If students are studying in band class or have an interest in a more academic approach to studying music we can go that route. I have also been playing professionally for nine years and can offer practical skills to students about playing a wide verierty of music. I incorporate learning jazz, blues, rock, funk and other more popular styles of music into the lessons. I create a friendly and fun atmosphere and balance learning the music you love with things like scales, theory and reading.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a bachelor degree in bass performance from the University of Colorado Denver. I have been playing the bass for thirteen years and teaching for many of those years.
