I had flown to Denver to check into a specialized hospital. Anyone who has spent any time in hospitals knows how boring they can get, and how important it is to have access to your important information, like how to pay your bills online, research you need to share with your doctor, and doing something other than watching TV! Unfortunately, a week into my stay, my computer completely died. Needless to say, I was devastated, and there was no way I could just leave and drop off my computer somewhere for repairs. After some trusty Googling, Thumbtack set me up with a company calls The Creative Technologies who came all the way to my hospital room, completed a preliminary diagnosis of the problem, and took my computer for a full 24-hour assessment of damage and repairs, after giving me an incredibly reasonable and competitive quote for repairs. The next day, we discovered that my computer was fine, but needed a new keyboard. They promptly ordered the parts necessary for repairs, and while we waited for parts to come in, they supplied me with my laptop AND a complimentary external keyboard so I could still use my computer. During this time, I transferred to an entirely different hospital. Once the parts came in, my personal technician came straight to my new address, picked up my computer and loaner keyboard, fixed my laptop with its new keyboard, and delivered my laptop in perfect, repaired, and clean condition. Now my computer looks it's best and works better than ever. I do not have enough positive things to say about Adeel, my technician, the great people at The Creative Technologies, and the people at Thimbtack for helping match me to the perfect service professionals. Creative Technologies was an all right company. My motherboard of my laptop was replaced by them. On the surface and the first impression I received, I thought they were the company I was looking for. However, my overall experience fell short of my expectations. My motherboard was repaired in a timely manner and the communication of the company was fair. It would have been nice if when I emailed them they would email me back with answers to my questions rather than emailing me to call them. Email is usually the best way for me to contact people with my schedule, but they insisted on phone calls, which led to games of phone tag. Ultimately, this prolonged the time it took to set up and resolve my computer issues. The labor pricing was reasonable at $50 an hour, but I was reminded numerous times, about how good the pricing was and that it was a thumbtack user rate. In actuality, this was the same labor rate numerous techs quoted. Additionally, regarding prices, I had an issue with their part prices. There was a miscommunication on the correct motherboard for my laptop. Which I suppose is partly my fault because the model number of the motherboard, which I gave them from the hp website wasnt the motherboard in my laptop. Although, I do believe protocol would be to get the serial number of the laptop to make sure the customer was correct. Rather than waiting until they received the laptop and quoted me a price for the parts and labor. Later, I found out that the motherboard cost any where between $20 and $50 less through other technicians vendors. Furthermore, the most disconcerting issue I had was with their customer service. When first discussing their services and whats included with their services, they repeatedly emphasized how theyre only responsible for what they fix and nothing more. At the time, I didnt think much about it and it seemed reasonable. But once you experience their lack of true concern with making sure your computer is up and running the way it should be rather than making sure they're not responsible for what's going on with your computer, you begin to question their integrity and if their pleasantries in the beginning are just a charade. When I returned home with my computer I was excited, it had been a week since I had it and was looking forward to catching up. Unfortunately, the computer was not running as fast as it had been and when I called not only was I interrupted by the technician in a defensive manner asserting that it's a memory problem and nothing to do with the work he did. As I continued explaining the problems I was having, he then said it was an operating system problem and once again, nothing to do with what he had done. He then informed me if I wanted more help there would be a fee involved. Overall, I thought I made a okay choice in a tech company and this is the first time I've had service done on a computer, so maybe this is how it's done, but not the experience I hoped it would be. In viewing it in their eyes, my motherboard was replaced and my computer is running. Its too bad they weren't concerned with the customer experience and overall satisfaction of the service. I feel that there main concern was just putting the motherboard in and making sure it turned on. Rather than taking the time to make sure that my motherboard was the only issue I was having and insuring that my computer was working at an expected level of performance. I believe this is included in their initial hour of labor charges. I dont think the deserved amount of time was given or the respect a customer of such services deserves. The team at Creative Technologies was really great to work with. they were very prompt, courteous, and explained everything they did and they picked up and returned my computer to my house which is great as I don't really have alot of extra time (this was a $20.00 fee.) The turn around time for replacing the power supply was very quick plus they cleaned up the software on the computer and it now runs as fast as it did when new and this was included in the service. The creative Technologies was a little higher in price than a few other repair offers I received but, I do not regret the decision to use their services and will again if needed.Dec 31, 2013Verified
