FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My prices vary depending on the project. My normal rates are about $40/hr, and I can give total project time estimates. If you have a set budget and I tell you that works, and I end up going over-I won't charge for that unless I know it's going to take a significant amount more work than planned, and then I will bring it back to you before doing so and re-negotiate prices. For logo designs I charge a base fee of $100, anything over the first round of proofs is charged at my hourly rate. If you have a really tight budget, I'm happy to work with you to see if I can't work something out to fit it-everyone deserves to have good design, so I'd love to make that happen if possible.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am involved in local Adobe groups that do online seminars and program tutorials. I do a lot of research on my own time of new programs, techniques, etc. I occasionally teach Photoshop classes locally, to not only share my skills, but also enhance my knowledge of the program, and recently completed an 8 week web design course.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My dad is a computer consultant-so growing up I would watch him fix computers or get the latest gadget. I would hover over his shoulder and we grew up bonding over our enthusiasm for technology. When I hit high school, I really got into art-and when my friend lent me his Photoshop program, I realized I could combine the two-after that I really couldn't get enough!
