About
I have been teaching Classical Guitar for many years and studied three and half years in Paris France with Antonio Francisco Serra, who was a direct student of Emilio Pujol from the Francisco Tarrega School. I also teach flamenco guitar and flamenco and Spanish dance for over 50 years. I am originally from Granada, Spain and I am a direct descendant of the gitano flamenco puro tradition as passed down to me by generations of my gypsy family. I have performed with the greatest flamenco artists of all time including Carlos Montoya, Carmen Amaya, Sabicas, José Greco, Paco de Lucia, Mario Escudero and many others. I new many of the fine classical guitarist as well: Andres Segovia, Christopher Parkening, Alirio Diaz, Narciso Yepes, Juan Mercandal, Pepe Romero, Angel Romero. As a performer, teacher, choreographer, mentor, and recording artist, I have been credited with bringing flamenco & Classical guitar to Colorado back in 1967. I helped start the Classical Guitar Society of Denver and the Guitar Department at the University of Denver and other Universities I have received numerous awards, including the Governor’s and Mayor’s Awards for Excellence in the Arts. I enjoy sharing my knowledge, technique and passion for the guitar. I also enjoy teaching Spanish gypsy flamenco music and dance with my students.

I was possibly the first female, and perhaps youngest student (age 11) that started guitar lessons with El Maestro back in 1972 (before he moved to Emerson St, Denver). He was an awesome human being, and of course, a great teacher. I still have the photos of him, when he was young, that he gave me from his trunk. I cherish the memories of my lessons during the years I studied under him. It was unfortunate that the family moved away. But I have been continuing my guitar studies as a middle-aged adult today. Thank you, Mr. Heredia, for my continuing love of Spanish-Gypsy dance and music.

Thank you Robin for your review of my work and teaching. It's good to hear from you after all these years. I hope you are doing well and glad to hear that you are still playing your guitar. It is something for the sol and spirit of the human condition and something that we need as people to keep us grounded in this hectic life that we have today. Much more deferent than back in the 70's. Hugs to you from your old teacher, René www.reneheredia.com gypsyproductionsinc@comcast.net e mail me here to keep in touch.

I had my first class with Rene tonight and I expected it to be just very basic guitar. Though we covered the basics we did get right into the flamenco chords and forward arpeggios based on those chords he taught. He also taught me both chord chart and tab type music writings to depict the chords to practice and the tab for how to play the arpeggios. I showed up with a steel string guitar and based on the style suggested a nylon string guitar and allowed me to try one out that he had. I immediately noticed quite a bit of difference in comfort and ease of use. Rene has been doing this since he was 10, and you can tell that he has lived and breathed this is whole life since even at the basic level of teaching. I look forward to working with Rene further and learning more on this style of guitar with him.

I just moved here and for some reason had trouble finding someone that would teach what I wanted in the Chicago area. Rene is starting me at a good fundamental level and knows how to teach and play guitar.

Rene is a great teacher and musical mentor. My guitar playing has vastly improved since I began studying with him three years ago. I would recommend him and his school for any one interested in learning flamenco and classical guitar and dance.

I started working with Rene at age 10 and continued to study with him through college, taking me from an eager novice through to a semi professional level . Rene kindled a fire and passion for guitar which has lasted for over 30 years; today I was working with my 8 year old daughter to show her some of the small things Rene started me on as a child. Rene is an under recognized jewel in the national music scene. It is a rare opportunity to be able to work with a musician of this caliber. Do not let it pass you by!

That review is from my old student Jason: A fine student and guitarist and a wonderful person from a fine family. He continues to play after all these years and does gigs in his home town. René
