- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
On our first contact, we have a chance to get to know a little bit about each other. I typically ask about what brings you to therapy and answer any questions you may have about my services and the overall process of therapy. If you choose to schedule an initial appointment, I will send you some forms as well as a welcome letter that contains information about our first therapeutic meeting. I prefer to send forms ahead of time so that we don't need to take up time to sign during your initial session (as we will have a lot to get covered). We can discuss any questions you may have about the forms and move on to what brings you to see me. I will actively listen to your story and what brings you to therapy. It is extremely important that you feel respected in therapy. It can be a bit of a confusing process, and I work hard to ensure that it goes as smoothly as possible for everyone involved. I will make sure that all your questions are answered.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I earned a masters degree in Clinical Social Work from Widener University in Philadelphia; and I am currently fully licensed in the state of Colorado. I also earned a masters degree in Clinical Human Sexuality. Prior to that, I obtained my bachelors in Psychology from Montclair State University in NJ. I am professionally trained in Narrative Therapy. I have trained nationally and internationally with some of the most influential professionals in the field. In addition, I have trained in other therapeutic approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, among others. Continuing education is an essential part of my professional ethics, and it also allows me to provide the best quality services to those who consult with me about their stories.
