I chose Mold Removal Express based on reviews, and I found their expertise and service to be just as described in other reviews. Richard "The Mold Guy," was patient in listening to my description of my mold issue, and very detailed in providing mitigation options and recommendations. After I prepared the basement room for treatment as my contract recommended, he showed up a half an hour early, and, following an on site review of my situation, advised that he/we could mitigate the issue at about 2/3rds of the proposed price. So, following a thorough review and discussion of my particular situation, detailed recommendations to prepare the room, prompt service, and a fact based reduction of the proposed cost, I believe this 5 star rating is entirely justified. We contacted several mold remediation experts to tackle two small areas where some mold had developed on closet walls. 1st of all Richard provided an extremely thorough explanation of several possible strategies, and the difference between remediation necessary for cosmetic reasons vs health reasons. Meanwhile we received a quote that we felt was overkill (based on reading we had done regarding this topic) and was going to cost more than 1,000 dollars. We followed up with Richard to see if there was a more affordable, but equally effective strategy he could employ but we when he learned more details of our scenario (i.e. it was merely on the surface of plaster walls vs drywall) he came back with more integrity than I have seen in MANY years of dealing with hired household services. So often there is constant fear mongering, confusing language, and constant pressure to upsell. While I understand that its natural to desire to profit, I still believe that there are ethical ways to do so. And Richard epitomized this form of ethical business. He told us how we could effectively treat the situation on our own, and that truly there was no need to pay him hundreds of dollars or utilize any more in-depth or expensive methods in this particular case. He empathized with the way homeowners can be intimidated into unnecessary and extraordinarily expensive repairs simply because they trust the experts they hire to be honest. I rarely take the time to review contracted services (as I often feel somewhat screwed over by it all), and in this case I was simply too overwhelmed with gratitude for this honest approach- one which completely negated any revenue for Richard. He chose not to exploit us, when he easily could have, simply because he was the expert and we wanted to be sure we werent cutting corners or doing damage to our property. He, and his company, deserve every bit of business that comes his way from this point. Hopefully, as a result of his integrity he (and Mold Removal Express) will be rewarded with many more clients in the future; clients who can take him at his word- something which so often if hard to believe in business dealings. Homeowners are very vulnerable to inflated, if not fabricated costs, that could be minimized by more honest and human interactions. And hopefully if more companies employed these same ethical methods, they would rise to the top through shared recommendations, trust, and customer loyalty. Well done, sir.
