Introduction: As a photojournalist I've gained storytelling experience that allows me to capture the spirit of any event and important moments within. It's also given me the skill set to be quick on my feet, resourceful and able to make beautiful images despite any conditions or hiccups in the game plan. This means I'm well-equipped to work with you in pulling off your special event and document it intimately and with style. I love that I can both capture candid moments and artful portraits all in one night. I see these two as opposite ends of the photographic spectrum, and to exercise the medium's entire range is always a delight.

I first worked with Kevin when I was commissioning videos about Charlotte, NC for the 2012 Democratic National Convention. He was very easy to collaborate with and his visual style and storytelling skills made for excellent short stories about our community. Kevin did my proposal photographs and really went above and beyond. The proposal was at the Botanic Gardens during the Blossom of Lights in December. He really took all the worry and concern out of the planning and let me just focus on our big moment! AND his prices are reasonable - not like wedding industry reasonable, but normal person reasonable, which was unbelievably refreshing. Kevin went out of his way to send me pictures of different locations throughout the event along with a map so I could choose the perfect location ahead of time. He got there early, set up incognito, and left a small inconspicuous LED light to mark the spot to propose for the perfect shot. The man waited for an hour on a 15 degree December night just to help get the best shot. The pictures are excellent, he got them to us the same evening, and I'm still amazed at what a smooth and pleasant experience it was working with him. We'll be using him going forward for sure!!!

Kevin was great to work with! He was flexible with timing & location of the two shoots he did with us and was independent & creative (which helped me when I was trying to run an event!). He understood our program & our goals for the shoots and made sure we got the photographs we needed. His took great candid, action shots & wasn't afraid to get dirty or put himself in a less-than-comfortable position to get a good shot. We'll be able to use these pictures for years to come to help promote and grow our program! I would definitely work with him again.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My rates are flat fees encompassing use for every image I send and are negotiated based on the amount of work necessary.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I've also worked as an event planner, so I know what it takes to pull off a great event. I like to talk with organizers ahead of time to make sure I'm aware of every important moment and avoid any surprises during the function. I also like to arrive early to get a feel for the space. After shooting, I put together a downloadable folder containing every image worth hanging on to, then send it in an email. My rates are flat fees encompassing use for every image I send.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm a film school graduate with a full-time job as a photo and video journalist. I'm also a pioneer in the art of .gifmaking.
