- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After our initial contact we will discuss date & time as well as location for your upcoming photo session. I know a lot of different beautiful areas that are perfect for picture backgrounds but I am very happy to go wherever you envision your pictures to be taken. I prefer to schedule sessions within the 1-1,5 hours after sunrise or before sunset to capture the beautiful light during the "Golden Hour". I follow the weather closely and will be in touch in case we need to reschedule due to bad weather conditions. Outfits are often a hot topic and I usually suggest checking Pinterest for ideas and inspiration. Feel free to email or text me a snapshot of the clothes you picked in case you are unsure. On location I try to keep the mood light and everyone relaxed. I like cracking jokes and I still (even after almost 15 years) mispronounce or misuse words (the German in me) - that alone makes for some pretty hilarious shoots AND results in beautiful and natural smiles that weren't commanded with a "Cheeeese". I have worked with a lot of children and feel very comfortable engaging with them. Having 2 young kids of my own and constantly chasing them with my camera makes me fairly experienced in that area.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am mostly self trained with a few technical classes a few years ago. I am continuing on an every day basis to educate myself through classes, on-the-job training, lots of reading and basically using my no. 1 tool - my camera at all times. Like in so many creative fields - you're never done learning, you only get better.
