I really liked how TechWPS put together a line itemed code based quote. John helped us with different layouts and was very helpful in design suggestions. John and his guys throughout the work were very friendly, knowledgable and professional. I felt like I knew exactly how each stage was progressing and the budget was maintained throughout the project. The estimate and what was charged never changed. I was really impressed that TechWPS didn't try to add things during the project, like some other contractors try. The workmanship was great and when there were finishing touches to be made at the end, John pointed them out to me before I even saw them. The drywall guys came back a couple of times to do walk throughs and I really appreciated their attention to detail to make my walls just right. I really like how the basement turned out, especially the bathroom and wine closet! I recommend John and his team.

Details: Residential • 500 - 1,000 sq. ft. • No, I will not be adding structural or weight-bearing features to my basement • Yes, my basement finishing or remodeling project will require electrical or plumbing work • No existing plans, but have a good idea of what I want

I am writing to share my experience with the recent home remodeling project undertaken by John, whom I hired through Thumbtack. I was impressed by the positive reviews and anticipated a seamless and quality project based on those recommendations. Regrettably, my experience with John's work has not met the standards I expected. As someone who has had three homes remodeled, I believe it is crucial to communicate my concern so that someone else doesn't walk into the same issues. Our basement, measuring less than 900 sq ft, incurred a cost of $59,000. During the drywall phase, it became apparent that John's absence during critical stages, particularly when subcontractors were working was an issue. He left us with curved edges, patches everywhere, nicks down the corners of the walls, and slanted walls. The newly installed egress windows, not included in the initial cost, have paint and drywall residue all over, with visible cracks in the surrounding drywall. The paint application on the walls is splotchy and has so many missed spots. The vanity lights don't line up, he couldn't have even been bothered to caulk the back of the sink. Despite offering multiple opportunities to address these concerns, it became evident that John lacked the necessary skill set to fix any of this. It is important to mention that attempting to discuss and resolve these matters with John proved challenging, as he tended to dispute disagreements rather than collaboratively finding solutions. He does not want feedback unless it's positive. In retrospect, I regret not exploring alternative options, whether more expensive or budget-friendly, as the work delivered by John is, in my assessment, unacceptable and incomplete. In light of these circumstances, we had to make the difficult decision to conclude the project and fulfill our payment obligations. I can only ask you to save yourself the headache of hiring this man. Accountability and quality are lost on his work.

I had no idea what was involved in finishing a basement. John helped me put my ideas to paper and then he handled everything from the floor plan, permiting to framing, electrical, plumbing, inspections to drywall, painting and finishing touches. The quote he gave me was what the cost was. There were no surprises, he didn't go out of that budget, and the only time there was a cost increase was when I added something that was not on the estimate. He did a line item estimate, so there was no ambiguity on what was included. One of the things that impressed me with John was that he really enjoyed doing this work, so he took pride in everything he did. He would notice a imperfection of texture and have it fixed, or if a line of paint wasnt right, he pointed it out to me and not the other way around. He wasn't the cheapest estimate that I recieved, but I do understand that you really do get what you pay for. Please consider TechWPS for your basement remodel. I am glad I did. Happy to be a reference.

I recently bought a house that had no light on one entire half of the house. John installed recessed lights and a ceiling fan box with minimal drywall damage. He even brought patches to patch the spots he had to cut. He did an awesome job and got the project done in just a day and a half. It's great having light in the house now. I'll definitely use him again for other electrical projects around the house.

John was great installing our lights and ceiling fan. He was super patient when we realized we ordered the wrong parts and came back on a Saturday to complete the project. We will definitely will use him again.
