FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My rate for private instruction is $40 per hour. I charge a similar hourly rate for my design work; however the nature of each design project can vary depending on your needs. A business that needs a simple modification of an existing logo would be charged $175, while a business that needed a new logo designed, including work helping developing an identity for the company, could expect a rate closer to $400. Each business is unique and so are the requirements of their marketing materials. I set up a meeting with potential clients to get an understanding of their needs and then give a quote based on the client's tailored design needs.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am extremely curious and read any content I can about the graphic design industry. This includes periodicals such as Fast Company, and books such as "Duct Tape Marketing". I also subscribe to Lynda.com to keep myself up to date with constantly changing technological advances.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have always been both very analytical and very creative. I began my career as a teacher, but after having my boys I wanted to pursue a career that allowed me to have a more flexible schedule. I had been creating websites and doing small design jobs for many years, and a part time job as an instructor at Arapahoe Community College helped confirm my desire to pursue freelance design.
