FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I am passionate about photography and always have been. Looking back, there are few photos of me in my family's pictures as I always had that camera in my hand. Some of my best memories come flooding back when I pick up that picture and look at it again. After a career in education, I had the wonderful opportunity to follow my passion and work in a field where what I do doesn't feel like work at all. Each time I go out to photograph a client, I have a wonderful time. It's a great way to live! I was lucky enough to work with exceptional photographers that helped me grow and became my mentors.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Find someone who strikes you as though you can easily work with them. Share ideas back and forth so that they are able to "see the vision in your mind's eye." Schedule plenty of time for the session. Anticipate at least 4 to 6 weeks for your order to be ready.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
A photographer is a creative artist. Like any other professional, they have hundreds of hours of training in addition to their formal schooling. Good photographers continue to grow professionally each year. You are not hiring someone to just shoot a quick image of yourselves and then hand it over. You are asking an artist to create a special setting and feeling that is beautiful and can be treasured for years. Once the photos are taken, a great deal of time goes into making each portrait perfect. Photography is a process, not a quick "point and shoot."
