Introduction: I believe that therapy is most effective when it meets the client where they are while understanding that we, as people, use the best way we know to manage difficulties we are experiencing. Ultimately, I believe that the client is an expert in their life and that when we come to therapy, it is often because something is not working or we are struggling to make sense of a situation. Sometimes we need someone to hold on to the hope and cultivate a calm space for us to explore ourselves and express our story. I use a relational approach, curiously asking questions while also empowering clients to formulate understanding through their own narrative.
Every individual’s story and journey is their own and putting a narrative to our experiences can be considerably helpful. At times, events happen in our life that do not follow a predictable, linear path (loss of relationships/divorce, grief, adjustments to mental or medical health struggles, etc.). When we do not have a way of making sense of our current experiences, we may try to exert control over our situation, grasping for understanding or resolution. At the same time we may not know where to begin the sense-making because any adjustment or difficulty in our life requires integrating a new way of understanding and approaching the world.
I am a licensed psychologist in the state of Colorado. I obtained my Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology with a Concentration in Traumatic Stress from Adler School of Professional Psychology. Formerly, I have worked in inpatient hospital settings, residential settings and outpatient therapy settings over the last 6 years, providing individual and group therapies to individuals across the lifespan. Beyond a relation orientation to therapy, as aforementioned, I am well-versed in dialectical behavior therapy and cognitive behavior therapy as well. If you are interested in starting therapy, I encourage you to schedule a free phone consultation, as fit of therapy is important to effective progress!
I also now have the opportunity to provide psychological assessments to include cognitive and personality testing. Following testing, clients are provided with integrative and comprehensive reports summarizing results. Results tend to provide better understanding of strengths and weaknesses as it relates to relationships, emotions, coping, perceptions of the world and also offer recommendations for future direction. If you would like to schedule an assessment, I would happy to set up a consultation to discuss the presenting difficulties and your hopes for an evaluation to see if it would be a good fit!
I completed my Masters in Counseling Psychology and my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. I enjoy working with others, and seeing them reach their potential. I believe that individuals have their own answers and that everyone needs a grounding place to acknowledge their strength and capabilities. Seeing growth and collaborating with clients is impactful and rewarding.
