Introduction: "Picasso once said that the real purpose of art is to wash away from the soul the dust of everyday life. Chagall stated that it is an artist's duty to keep awake the sense of wonder in the world. It's my hope that my artwork brings a measure of joy to all who view it. Most importantly, may it be an expression of thanks to God." For over 25 years, I have created murals and other commissioned artwork throughout the northern Denver metro area. Some of my work includes playground murals at the Louisville, Broomfield, and Ft. Lupton recreation centers. Other murals can be seen at the Adams County Justice Center, Tenaker Pet Care, and numerous residences in Arvada, Broomfield, Louisville, Thornton, and Brighton. I also find great pleasure in painting watercolor Colorado landscapes, nature studies, and pet portraits. I have had the pleasure of illustrating for two local authors. Laurie is a native of Colorado and studied fine art at Colorado Women's College in Denver and Commercial Art Continuing Studies at CU Boulder. She also makes use of her artistic talents at Shepherd of Love Fellowship in Broomfield, CO, where she assists in set/backdrop design for annual theatrical productions. The work needed to complete the project is during our week-long annual shut down for maintenance; Laurie worked diligently to accomplish this project within this time frame. She researched our community to include native plants and wildlife and even incorporated special requests from staff to make this mural unique to our facility. Her artwork is outstanding, and very kid-friendly. We have received many compliments, and the children love the animals and finding the hidden ladybugs!
