Dan came very prepared and open and respectful, ready to assist me with my life questions. He is very sweet, caring, thoughtful, very considerate and very wise. He will advise you when he feels led to by the Spirits. Answered all of my questions with amazing precision through the Tarot cards and with written explanations for me to keep forever! :) Willing to work with anyone. Warm hearted, very glad to help, comfort, encourage, and to advise you with what you need from a wise guide with no personal agendas of his own. He will be open to answering a few more questions if needed. Past lives, he verified some lives which I knew about and which I had intuitions about with accurate details. One neat thing is he told me how people REACTED to my past life personalities----how people reacted to my work in my past lives----I was so glad to find out that so many people loved hearing me sing as a Troubador in one past lifetime and I am DEAF now and cannot sing now......but at times I actually sing softly to my dogs or to those who I love such as my Mother!!! I often wondered why I loved to sing.....now I understand why!!! That's one example. He will verify why you keep doing this behavior such as sewing crafts or gardening plants or eating organic foods....I was once a farmer who also healed anyone with my plants as that was the only local medicine back then in my area. He can read your past lives by his sensations and his intuitions and what he picks up through your meeting. He is also very comfortable and flexible to work with, just give him a good clean table and of course a guest beverage of hospitality and then get to work! May everyone of you be blessed with Mr. Liss. I definitely will ask him to work again with me and some of my friends :).

Jennifer has one of the best hearts I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and working with. She is very knowledgeable in her field and has the amazing ability to say I don't know but I will find out for you. To me that shows strength of character There are many healers that think they now even when they are not sure and do damage because of their pride. Jennifer is loving, safe, and we'll educated. She has and is helping me through a huge transition and without out the path would have been much harder and taken much longer. Just talk to her and you will know what I mean. I g ever her 5 gold stars!

At Healing Village Collective they look at the whole person, not just symptoms. They work to alleviate the underlying issue, not just treat the symptoms. The office and treatment rooms have a very comforting atmosphere, the practitioners really listen to you, and everyone is super friendly and knowledgeable. I've worked with several practitioners and have been very happy with the results. It's the way healing should be!

I feel so great after my acupuncture today I had to post this review. Christy stays up to date on the most current health practices but has a very good precision and results in Chinese medicine. She is truly interested in my highest health and well being. She has successfully treated me for musculoskeletal (chronic) neck and shoulder pain (pain is gone) , depression, anger, anxiety, a broken heart (this is real), chronic bladder infection, lower back pain, general stress reduction. She also has done cupping (like Michael phelps and Gwyneth Paltrow get) which made me feel amazing afterwards, we do Splankna and muscle testing (which helps when you are not quite sure why certain ailments or issues are popping up.) I like the herbs I have used from her, which I investigated of course because I only use good, cleanly sourced supplements when more home treatment is required. The best part is my HSA covers my visits!

The holistic healing that Christine offers has drastically improved my life. Not only has she helped me gain a better sense of direction right after our appointments but her healing methods have pushed me to make my life in general better. She is always willing to talk with me and work with me through issues before and after our sessions together to help me figure things out if I need a little more direction. Christine is very good at what she does and I would recommend her to anyone. Even if you just need an hour or so to relax from a busy day, this is so worth it.

George MacIlwinen is the Horse Whisperer of young adults struggling to find their footing in their transition to adulthood. Our son had a history of difficult medical problems in childhood that prevented him from achieving developmental milestones and left him as an anxious young adult, depressed, over-medicated and isolated. Over the years we ran through many therapists and programs and our son had grown skeptical of their effectiveness. All that changed when we met George MacIlwinen. George's contributions to our son's life and our family's life are so extensive, it would take pages to catalog them. First and foremost, George understood our son like no one had before, he understood the trauma that our son had experienced and the gaps in his development. Most important, he saw our son's potential and his prospects for a good future. Therapeutically, George is a creative and independent thinker. He has an over-arching philosophy, but within that he is adaptive. For our son he followed a holistic approach incorporating experiential therapy and psychotherapy together with a strong emphasis on healthy life habits including reduced medications, physical fitness and diet. He has also been especially proactive in helping our son develop social skills. Personally, George is calm, empathetic and friendly. He's genuine with an easy smile. He is an excellent listener; he's insightful. George models the healthy behavioral habits that he advocates. He's a natural mentor and educator and has provided invaluable counseling and guidance to our son and to us. George MacIlwinen is an amazing therapist. Meeting him has been one of the single best things that has ever happened to our family. It's a great pleasure to recommend him to you.

I've been dealing with a slow-healing MCL injury over the past year. My goal to finish my hockey season was in jeopardy until I met Glenn. With just two days before two playoff games, Glenn treated my knee and my sciatica with a multitude of modalities at an affordable price, and everything felt better immediately. Even better, I played those two back-to-back hockey games without any pain in my knee! It was remarkable. I went on to lead one of my teams to a championship, and now I have the confidence that my knee is finally on the positive path to full healing. Without Glenn, it wouldn't have been possible. He's one of the most knowledgeable people about every aspect of human physiology out there, and doesn't hesitate to heal everything that needs to be fixed, or to educate you about it with stretches and natural remedies. If that wasn't enough, Glenn offers rare healing technology and even rarer holistic health analysis that you can't find in the best doctor's offices in the country. Glenn's practice is a true gem and the best-kept secret in the Denver area.

Nancy is the best. With her expertise in massage, acupuncture and Chinese medicine (and more), you get triple the healing! She is very easy to talk to, thorough, and is truly interested in getting to the root of a patient's condition. I was shocked at how quickly and effectively her treatments worked for migraine and shoulder pain that I'd had for decades. The treatments are long-lasting and amazing! Nothing else I've tried (medication, massage, chiropractic) has even come close.

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

        What is naturopathic medicine?

Naturopathic medicine is classified as an alternative healing method, but licensed naturopathic doctors share some of the same academic background as conventional medical doctors and can often prescribe some medications. According to the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP), naturopathic medicine is holistic care that addresses a wide range of problems including (but not limited to) allergies, chronic pain, digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, obesity, respiratory conditions, heart disease, fertility problems, menopause, adrenal fatigue, cancer, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. Naturopathic medicine aims to strengthen and empower the body and its organs to heal itself through low-force interventions. Here are some examples of the type of medical services often provided by naturopathic doctors, as cited by the AANP:

        • Clinical and laboratory diagnostic testing
        • Nutritional medicine
        • Botanical medicine
        • Naturopathic physical medicine (including naturopathic manipulative therapy)
        • Hygiene
        • Counseling
        • Minor surgery
        • Homeopathy
        • Acupuncture
        • Intravenous and injection therapy
        • Naturopathic obstetrics (natural childbirth)

        Do naturopaths take insurance?

Many naturopathic doctors accept insurance, but a separate question is whether your insurance covers alternative and naturopathic services. There are several steps you can take to find out:

        • Verify whether you live in one of the 20 states that currently licenses naturopathic physicians:
          • Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Utah, Vermont and Washington.
        • Confirm whether your insurance will cover naturopathic medical services. Read your insurance plan’s fine print, verify whether naturopathic doctors fall into your insurance carrier’s definition of a doctor, and confirm that the care you are receiving is considered medically necessary. Questions to ask your insurance provider could include:
          • Am I covered for this treatment by a naturopathic physician?
          • Do I need a referral?
          • Is there a list of approved naturopathic doctors in my network?
          • What will the co-pay be?
          • Are there limits to my naturopathic coverage?
        • Before seeking medical care, it’s key to understand the difference between a naturopathic doctor and a naturopath. Anyone may advertise themselves as a naturopath, while to be a licensed naturopathic doctor, a person must complete academic and clinical training.

        Can naturopathic doctors prescribe medication?

Licensed naturopathic doctors can prescribe some pharmaceutical medication. Naturopathic doctors complete academic training similar to that of conventional physicians: a bachelor’s degree with a focus on pre-med studies, followed by a four-year residential naturopathic medical program whose first two years have a similar foundation to that of a conventional medical school. After completing their studies, they must pass a post-doctoral exam. Although licensed naturopathic physicians are able to prescribe medication, they usually focus on prevention rather than treatment of symptoms. A naturopathic doctor will offer a holistic approach to your care that encompasses your mental, physical and emotional health. While they will prescribe medication as needed to treat illness, they are also likely to be creating shifts in your lifestyle and nutrition to effect deeper changes in your body’s response to illness.

How do you find a good naturopath?

It’s important not to get misled by the title “naturopath” when searching for a naturopathic doctor. A naturopathic doctor is a licensed professional, while anyone who so desires can call themselves a naturopath. A naturopathic doctor has completed eight years of schooling and is licensed to provide high-quality medical care. When searching for a naturopathic doctor, a good place to start is by researching your state’s licensing and regulatory body for that profession.

Currently, 20 U.S. states license the practice of naturopathic medicine. For those seeking holistic, body-centered healing solutions, a naturopathic doctor can be a good fit. They use natural medicines as well as treatments such as electrotherapy and ayurvedic medicine to encourage the body to heal. Once you have determined a list of naturopathic physicians who are licensed in your state, look for reviews, ask for referrals, and interview the physician in person or by phone to find the right care provider for your health needs.

How long do naturopathic doctors go to school?

Like conventional physicians, naturopathic doctors undergo rigorous academic and clinical training prior to practice. Typically naturopathic doctors go to school for eight years. There are currently 20 states in the U.S. that provide licensing for naturopathic doctors. According to the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, a naturopathic doctor must complete a bachelor’s degree and an accredited four-year residential naturopathic medical program, and pass an extensive postdoctoral board examination, the Naturopathic Physicians Licensing Examinations (NPLEX), in order to receive a license or registration to practice medicine.

The first two years of the residential naturopathic medical program cover many of the same areas of study as conventional medical schools. Naturopathic doctors provide primary patient holistic care. The goal of naturopathic medicine is preventative care and a focus on low force intervention healing methods. This can include natural medicines, acupuncture, hydrotherapy, homeopathy and much more. Naturopathic doctors often work in tandem with conventional medical doctors, as the two practices complement one another.
