I am so head over heels with my Roxie’s progress . The support in her success is all a result of the diligence and compassion that came from day one. Roxie is a thick headed 6 year old Pure breed german shepherd who is very protective bad behavior that was aggressive and also suffered with separation anxiety in 4 weeks they were able to get her to respond to commands and also gave me the tools ( training) to build on her success. Prior to Roxie attending “camp” (that’s what we referred her stay with balanced k9 ) I had to lock her up when my grandchildren came over and now After her boot camp stay with Chuck and Luciana’s team we have a very happy household all together from day one of her return

Details: 2 - 10 years old • Extra large (70+ lbs) • Board and train at a facility • Aggressive behavior modification • Leash pulling • Barking • At the pro’s location

We are thrilled that we found Luciana and Chuck. We were unsure that our 11 year old rescue, Gigi, could learn new behaviors and correct the behaviors that were causing her (and us) distress. She was reactive on leash, barking/crying when we left the house, and reactive to kids. We had many concerns, and Luciana and Chuck heard them all. We imagined it would take 6 weeks at least, but after 3, they told us she was ready to come home. Since picking her up, it’s like we have a different dog. She walks without issue, knows her “place” at home, happily stays in her crate, and just seems less anxious overall. Chuck and Luciana have also been responsive via email with follow up questions as we’ve transitioned her back home. We are truly impressed with the level of care, knowledge and correspondence throughout the process. Would highly recommend—especially for people who may doubt that old dogs can learn new tricks!

Details: 10 years or older • Extra Small (1 - 15 lbs) • Board and train at a facility • Aggressive behavior modification • Barking • Biting • At the pro’s location • My home, venue, etc.

The Balanced K-9's reply
Katy, It was a pleasure to work with Gigi as well as you and your husband. She proves that we are never too old to learn and change habits. The real key to her success is her owners. You were both extremely engaged from the start, asked lots of great questions, challenged assumptions and evidenced a willingness to make adjustments on your side. That is the true recipe for success. Thank you for the opportunity to work with your wonderful girl. Chucka nd Luciana

PLEASE reach out to The Balanced K-9 with your dog training needs. You will not be disappointed! I really did not think I could ever feel fully comfortable leaving my dog with anyone at all, but Luciana and Chuck are so knowledgable, personable, and professional that I left their home with absolute no worries about my Luna (7 and a half month old GSD). Luna came home being able to walk in an amazing heel with both my boyfriend and I, she was able to hold a down stay in a pet store, and she is overall calmer. I am extremely optimistic about Luna’s future thanks to The Balanced K9! They gave us the information and tools necessary to ensure Luna’s success.

Luiciana and Chuck are wonderful trainers as well as people. My dog, Milo (German Shepard husky mix), stayed with them for 4 weeks and came back to us a brand new dog. Before The Balanced K-9, we could not walk him without him pulling the leash, barking, and attempting to lunge at people. He would also bark uncontrollably at any noise he heard either outside or inside the house. Now we can walk him outside and bring him to dog friendly stores and we couldn’t be more happy about it. Instead of having him cooped up in the house all day afraid he might harm someone. When we arrived to pick him up I wanted to go over what he’s learned perfectly to continue his training when he gets home and Luciana and Chuck were more than happy to take their time to teach us and answer any questions we had, I mean REALLY take their time. They were so welcoming and a pleasure to talk to. I most certainly recommended them if you are thinking about training your dog. I was so skeptical of leaving my dog to strangers because I had such a soft spot for him, but they were very trustable and I could tell they really care for each dog they train. They even brought my dog to the vet immediately when they found something alarming on his body (which is now healed thanks to their good eyes.) we are still continuing his training everyday and he is getting even better with us as handlers, he just has one problem we have to fix and have reached out to them via email once more for advice. Other than that, I give this place a 5 star rating!!!

The Balanced K-9's reply
Amber, Thank you for your very kind and thorough feedback. Milo's long-term success is guaranteed because you and your family took the time to understand how to help Milo be the best dog possible. The effort you are putting into maintaining his training is what really makes the difference long term. Thank you for entrusting your wonderful dog to us and we hope you will keep us updated on his progress. Warmest Regards Chuck and Luciana

We stopped by to see our Shihitzu, 2 weeks into her 3 week training. She was amazing. She was like our cuddly dog from before but with structure. Luciana and Chuck are caring, loving, knowledgeable trainers. Balanced K9 is highly recommended by myself, my wife and my lil Oreo. It would be a shame not to consider them forward your dog's training in the future. Thank you so much Balanced K9 for all your incredible help.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

If you want to know more about us, behavior consulting and training, please visit our website. Behavior Modification $3,190 to $4,100 This 3 to 4 week program is designed to address minor behavior issues (i.e. jumping, mouthing and counter surfing, etc.) as well as basic obedience: recall sit/down heel place Basic obedience is NOT for dogs with aggression issues or extreme levels of anxiety or fear. Depending on the intensity of the dog's issues additional weeks may be required (at $850 per week). This recommendation will be made based on the initial consultation or shortly after the beginning of training.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Typically, we collect detailed information on the animal via an online questionnaire. Once we have that information, we contact the owner to develop a program to address the dog's issues in a way that will promote real and lasting change.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Like any profession dog training requires not only active study but lots of hands on time. I participate in multiple professional seminars annually, exchange ideas with fellow professionals frequently and try to never stop learning. I work with over 100 dogs per year across all breeds and sizes so no issue, behavior or breed is new to me. I also consult with a local Animal Rescue that handles more challenging cases at our local Municipal Shelter. Working with and understanding the added stress a shelter situation places on an animal helps me better assist owners who have elected to adopt rather than buy. Recent examples of my annual continuing education include: One-week seminar on Body Language
