It was a joy working with Luciana from The Balanced K-9. She did an amazing job with my German Shorthair Pointer, Oscar. Our concern was that our 1.5 year old pup couldn't control himself in busy environments and was very difficult to walk on a leash. Luciana whipped Oscar into shape and documented his progress the entire way! Now Oscar is a dog we can trust to always listen and we can walk him on and off-leash with ease. I would definitely recommend The Balanced K-9 because the truly care about the dogs the train. Two months after working with Luciana, she still checks in to make sure Oscar is doing well and is always willing to give me new tips.Dec 10, 2019VerifiedThe Balanced K-9's reply
Chris, When we work with such committed owners as you and your wife as well as smart dog like Oscar, our work is pure joy. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and do send pictures of your handsome boy. Warmest Regards The Balanced K-9
Seriously the most amazing humans. They have changed me and my dogs life. If you are looking for a training program, they are worth every penny.Sep 3, 2019Verified
The Balanced K-9 were a pleasure to work with! We have a 6 year old rescue blue nose pit named Nala. Nala came to us with the basic training instilled but with an entire lack of socialization and some intense reactivity both on and off leash with dogs and humans alike. We found them off of a thumbtack search and are so very happy we made the call. Nala spent 17 days under the care of their team and came home to us as the same sweet dog without all of the baggage! We can now enjoy company in our home without her guarding incessantly, walk leisurely and with full control under any situation, and a lot more. What we have learned from The Balanced K-9 team is how to communicate with our dog and have a better quality of life because of it. Training and bonding with your dog is a lifetime commitment but the Balanced K-9 team will kickstart that and help you get through any and all barriers that you may be experiencing. We were hesitant to send off our dog for the first time, but truly could not have made a better choice for our family.Nov 9, 2019Verified
We absolutely love that we found the amazing people at The Balanced K-9. We first used them for a “re-training” of our 7 year old mastiff mix when we had a new baby coming home. They took the best care of our girl and really helped her with her anxiety. They even came to us to pick up some baby swaddles so Ziva could have the scent of her new pack member before she came back home. Since then we have used TBK-9 for multiple boarding sessions and we always know that she is in the best hand possible. They treat every dog as if it’s their own and while we are away they send multiple updates and photos/videos so we can see how much fun she is having. Leaving your pup with someone is never an easy thing to do but with TBK-9 we know that she’s going to get plenty of love and attention which is not the case at most other places (we know from experience). I would give them 10 stars if I could!!! -J+SJul 10, 2019The Balanced K-9's reply
Dear S&J, Thank you so much for your very kind and thoughtful comments. Ziva has wonderful owners who clearly care deeply about her. That fact makes our job much easier. Looking forward to her next visit. The Balanced K-9

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? If you want to know more about us, behavior consulting and training, please visit our website. Behavior Modification $1990.00 This 2 week program is designed to address minor behavior issues (i.e. jumping, mouthing and counter surfing, etc.) as well as basic obedience: recall sit/down heel place It is NOT for dogs with aggression issues or extreme levels of anxiety or fear. Depending on the intensity of the dog's issues additional weeks may be required (at $750 per wk). This recommendation will be made based on the initial consultation or shortly after the beginning of training.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?Typically I prefer to start the process with an in home consultation to get a complete picture of the dogs environment and its interactions with its owners. Once I have met the animal I work with the owner to develop a program to address the dog's issues in a way that will promote real and lasting change.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?Like any profession dog training requires not only active study but lots of hands on time. I participate in multiple professional seminars annually, exchange ideas with fellow professionals frequently and try to never stop learning. I work with over 100 dogs per year across all breeds and sizes so no issue, behavior or breed is new to me. I also consult with a local animal Animal Rescue that handles more challenging cases at our local Municipal Shelter. Working with and understanding the added stress a shelter situation places on an animal helps me better assist owners who have elected to adopt rather than buy. Recent examples of my annual continuing education include: One-week seminar on Body Language
