Jason came to the rescue on a cold April night when the furnace wasn't working (and didn't take advantage of the crisis to charge emergency fees). He was great- easy to communicate with and very courteous. Would def hire again.
Incredible service. Last week, the furnace didn't work. PSE&G was unable to start it (that 'worry-free' contract is a waste, and I canceled it), and with the cold weather approaching, something had to be done. I located Action Heating from the Thumbtack app. and read the reviews. I spoke with Kathy who assured me that somebody would come and give a free estimate. Sam arrived exactly on time despite it being a Sunday night, and actually worked on the furnace for over an hour. Sam is an affable type of guy, and you could tell that he was happy to be here. He was committed to fixing it right then and there, but alas, the fifty+ year furnace really just ran its course. I arranged with Kathy for Sam to come back later in the week to take out the old one and install the new (I should also note that Kathy came with Sam on a second visit, and I was impressed with that). Sam came back a third time with two helpers (Kathy's husband Bob, and an apprentice), and the three of them worked tirelessly, non stop, never hesitating to explain to me the steps involved). By the end of the day, there was nice warm air circulating throughout the house. Epilogue- Today and yesterday there was no hot water. I called Sam to inform him (I thought it was possibly related to the furnace work) and he instructed me on what to do. Perhaps sensing my ineptitude with this, he actually came over less than an hour later to show me how to move the dial to increase the water temperature. No charge. These guys are for real. No hidden charges or the sort, no "as long as..." or anything. I intended to wait a day or two before writing a review, and I'm totally satisfied. Big or small job that you need done, call them. Their prices are very fair (yes, I checked around like most would), but just as importantly as the price is the reassurance and professionalism that Kathy, John, and Sam display. You can take my word for it
I hired Skilled Service, Repair & Installation a few weeks ago, right before the New Year, and it was a very pleasant experience, from the introductory email, to the phone/text conversations, to the finalization of the job. One thing I really like about Joseph is, that he is really does seem like an honest business man. He must've mentioned to me two or three times not to ever feel shy about asking any questions at all and voicing my own opinion. As a homeowner, and not a professional in the construction business, it is very intimidating at times hiring contractors and letting them and their sub-contractors in the home while having to perform family-hood duties. I mean the household chores, the kids and their homework and their chores, etc, etc. I run a very busy household, Joseph's head had to be spinning, trying to stay focused on the work, hearing the noise and comotion. Who knows what he must've thought of my homelife, LOL, but like I said above, him and his helper were very pleasant and professional. They both have children themselves, and they both said it was nothing new to them. Even when Joseph came by for the estimate, my son and daughter would not leave my side, not even five minutes into estimate he had my kids giggling and smiling, I thought that was very sweet of him. So between the paint job and the electrical installation for the master bedroom and kids' room, the rooms came out absolutely wonderful. The accent walls in each room bounce the rest of the room right out at you. The lighting was beautifly done and there are more outlets and they are so easy to get to now, yay!!
My partner and I just moved to NJ from NC and had quite a bit of repairs and upgrades we needed to complete on the new home we purchased. One such upgrade was venting the dryer. This home was built in 1892 so needless to say, the original architectural plan did not include a dryer. The previous owners installed a gas line - but where the gas line had to run to attach to the kitchen stove, made for a really poor location in the basement in regards to venting the dryer. Before Nick came, he let me know a price for a best case scenario, which I appreciated because had he named a price over my budget, it would have given us both the opportunity to cancel the estimate so as not to waste time. Nick arrived on-time for the estimate and at first it was pretty tricky to find a solution for venting the dryer without completely tearing up the ceiling and walls. Nick was persistent in finding though and was able to devise a plan of going through an old nonfunctional window that was hidden and covered. I hired him to complete the dryer venting and also uncap the gas line and install a hose in preparation for the dryer installation. On the day of the project, Nick arrived on time (7:30am on a Saturday) It took him about 2.5 hours to complete everything. He did a fantastic job. One strength I want to highlight is that Nick not only gets the job done, and does it well, but also takes pride in the aesthetics of his work. He could have easily vented the dryer in a way that exposed the pipe all the way along the ceiling and through the window, but instead he figured out a way to fish it under the sheet rock for a cleaner look. He also cleaned his work space completely - which I have found to be rare for contractors in this area. I have had many contractors who were ready to walk out the door without cleaning up their mess and would have done so had I not asked them to clean up before they go. I also want to highlight that I had a sewage pipe issue in the basement prior to his dryer venting project. Nick also does plumbing so I called him at 4pm and he was at my house by 8pm. People who who have hired folks for sewage pipe leaks know that cleaning up the sewage is not part of the job. Nick was willing to clean and sanitize on top of snaking the pipes and clearing them of clogs for a reasonable price. Nick has been great to work with and does great work. I have already hired him to take care of some other projects around the house (installing a shower door, clearing debris in the backyard). Glad we found a go-to handyman for our new home!
I hired Guy (GR Mechanical) for a gas furnace install. Communication was great -as was the value/quote and everything went smoothly. It was amidst a super cold week and even with a winter storm in between - Guy was able to deliver when he said he would. I will be hiring again for future projects!
I had broken circulator pump on my furnace that needed be replaced. Fazam's reviews look great and when I spoke to him on the phone I could tell he was perfect for the job. He called back right away, listened carefully and was very helpful on the phone. He gave a very a fair estimate. He showed up early! He fixed the problem with the heat pump and went even further to check all of our radiators, bled them out and made sure they were in tip-top shape. That was more than an oil-serviceman has ever done for me. He also had lots of other useful advice for our basement. He showed me some finish work he's done for others. I will have him back to help finish our basement. This is a very talented and soft spoken individual. I was extremely satisfied with the result.
Cye was able to quickly identify the issue with our furnace and fix it within a day! He was knowledgeable, friendly, and affordable. I would definitely hire again!
Based on such a positive experience with J&R Quality Repair, I'd personally recommend their services for any of your plumbing needs. Jason and Rick are two of the most professional tradesmen I have worked with; they are punctual, professional, organized and very friendly. I hired them for two separate projects: 1. Completely re-pipe a natural gas boiler system that had multiple leaks/corrosion and 2. complete plumbing for two bathrooms we renovated at our home. When I initially spoke with Jason about the projects he asked me to take several pictures in advance from my phone, so he had an idea of the exact parts and effort that was required. The boiler project was completed in several hours, all of the pipes/connections are leak free and aligned professionally. After the winter season, the work was 100% issue free, there are no leaks and the system is functioning flawlessly. For the bathrooms we renovated, J&R helped in two phases of the project. They initially helped disconnect the sinks, showers, tubs and toilets. We completed all of the sheetrock, tile work, and painting. J&R then returned to complete the plumbing /reconnect all of the new appliances and finishing work. Everything now looks amazing; all of the fixtures Jason recommended function great and I feel comfortable knowing parts can be easily sourced if there is a problem after years of use. I have already provided their contact information to several friends that have plumbing needs; I also look forward to utilizing their services for any additional projects in the future.
We needed plumbing installed for a washer, and Frank was great. Showed up on time, and stayed until the job was done. Very reasonable prices and excellent work quality. We will definitely use AllStar again. Thanks Frank!
Very professional. I appreciate Karl's ability to educate me on my Furnace issues. My husband and I are thankful we found someone we can call on. We will use him again.
We are happy with the work that Craig has fine so far. He provided a free estimate for the installation of our bathroom faucet and a couple of projects we have coming up. His price was reasonable and he made sure to let us know what was included & what may come up as extra later if supply lines need to be replaced, etc. The old faucet had tightened up over the years. We could not run cold water and the hot handle was locking up. He was professional, prompt and personable. We will be hiring him again, definitely!
I can't say enough about this company. Absolutely AMAZING. I had an issue with our central air unit and was quoted double by another major company in the area who wasn't even as detailed in there work. Was even told by the other company that the furnace and pump for the ac should be replaced as well as the duct work having to be cleaned. Crown Cooling came out and took care of the problem and even detected a gas leak in the furnace and even showed me where it was with something that was put on the connection to determine the leak. Needless to say they fixed my ac at a reasonable price and were knowledgable and professional. So happy I found a professional and honest company. Would highly recommend them. Not out to rip the customer off. What a pleasure for a change.
Two leaking faucets in the older bathroom and shower installation in the newer bathroom and faucets as well. Very nice guy. Knows his stuff. Helped picking up good quality replacement items. We had a bit of a setback with the older facuets (never changes since 1941!). So the EM guy foud a supplier of these older parts and ordered and came back in a week and installed, Also minor leaks left behind which he fixed on a second visit. Pretty good experience overall. Giving 4 stars instead of 5 because everything got so stretched in time. Admittetdly i'm kinda laid back myself, so it's partially my fault and in general it's ok with me. No I'm waiting for Edgar to come back and fix another item. YEah, thta's how it goes - you start with smth and then it turns out lots of stuff leaks and is too old and needs repair. Don't buy a house! :)
Had my water pipe burst in my home from a frozen pip in the baseboard heating. He walked my wife over the phone on how to cut off water u til he arrived. Then came out in snow to fix at a reasonable price. He could of took advantage of the situation and he did not! Awesome work very professional and punctual. Will recommend and use him again! THANK YOU
10/10 on knowledge and responsiveness. Would absolutely hire again.
We needed a complete installation of an entire HVAC system in our business. Very satisfied with the work that Kenny did. The system runs great and I couldn’t ask for anything more. Kenny and his crew were all easy to deal with. Kenny thoroughly explained everything he was doing and left no question unanswered. I will be using Kenny for all my hvac needs. I recommend them.
Doug responded right away. He visited my home the same day. Doug returned at my request 2 days later. He and his partner arrived at the scheduled time. They removed my old furnace, hauled it away, installed a new furnace, and cleaned up after themselves - all in one day! I would definitely recommend them! Lorraine G
I contacted Mr. Diaz in the early evening and he responded immediately. He worked on my furnace until it was repaired. Mr. Diaz was courteous, professional and most of all reasonably priced. Such a delight to find help and courtesy when you are presented with the unexpected! Thank you Mr. Diaz.
We hired Jorge Acuapina and his team for painting and ended up hiring them back for other jobs including installing cabinets in the laundry room, installing doors, landscaping and sheet rock repair work. He was prompt, courteous and finished the jobs on time. The quality of their work was good and we would use them again.
I had a great experience with John. I called and spoke with him about my service needs. I have had an ongoing issue with leaking refrigerant from my AC unit. Spent nearly a $1000 a few years ago with no successful repair performed. I was not sure if the system could be fixed; however, John explained his approach and did exactly what he promised. He found and repaired a leak that another vendor could not. My system is now repaired, fully charged and keeping my home cool!!! His service was professional, timely and better priced than his estimate. If you need HVAC work in Suffolk County, you've found your guy. I am a very pleased customer!!!
We needed an emergency boiler installed ,A service tech by the name of Andrew showed up (a really nice guy by the way) gave us a good price and they did a professional job. Thanks HVAC-R Solutions!!
