These guys were great! They came out the day I called them and went right to work re-stretching the carpet. Within 2 hours they were done, and the carpet looks great. They also gave me a lifetime guarantee on the job. I will definitely use them when it comes time to put new carpet down. Thanks Kevin

We have used Commercial Clean for two months. The first cleaning did not go well. There were areas completely missed by the crew. Stephanie (the owner) handled it very well. She came by the house to take a look and was very apologetic about the job her crew did. She had them come back the next day to finish the job and she threw in a free carpet cleaning. We have since used them again and this month's cleaning had no issues. I would recommend their services, but they're not perfect.

I can't say enough about Ron, he was so caring, considerate, and concerned about the 96 year old woman who lives in the house. He went above and beyond to make sure he got rid of any dust in her 40 year old carpets that right now look brand new. Katt carpet cleaning services will be from now on the only one I use or recommend to anyone needing Carpet Cleaning!

As I have lived in my home for 30 years, I have hired carpet and furniture cleaners quite a few times. I have had some good experiences and some not as good. I have to say that this was the best, most thorough cleaning I have ever experienced. Ben arrived on time, reviewed the job and began to set up immediately. He explained what he was going to do and what he needed and got right to work. The team was the most professional and efficient I have seen. One of the reasons I hired them was the reviews on this site, and they lived up to and exceeded my expectations. They were reasonably priced, and did an excellent job. I will hire them again next time. Thank you again.

David from Homestead came to tear out some carpet in a bedroom in our home. He and his assistant did a great job. They worked diligently moving heavy furniture, and removing many, many staples to reveal a beautiful hardwood floor. I was completely satisfied with their work and would recommend them.

Recently my wife and I purchased a home that had been built in 1959, and was sold to us by the original owners. Not surprisingly, a number of things needed to be addressed in the home. We had used Mike to clean the carpets in our former home, and were very pleased with his work, so we called him in for advice on what to do about the carpeting in this house. That's when we learned that his expertise extended beyond carpets. The house had wall-to-wall carpeting in the living room, front entry, hallways, and bedrooms. It had been there a long time. Instead of trying to make this old carpet look good, and charging us for his efforts, Mike suggested that we remove it, which course of action potentially removed him from the project. We took his advice and started removing the carpet. When we did this, we discovered that the entire area covered by carpet had oak flooring underneath. This flooring was in pretty sad shape, with no attention having been given to it for many years, and the rubber carpet padding sticking firmly to it. We wanted to keep the oak flooring, but we had already repainted the walls and woodwork in the house, and the thought of sanding the floors down to prepare them for refinishing, with the resultant sawdust flying all over in our newly repainted home was just too much. Putting in new carpet, though not our preference, seemed like the best course to follow. That's when we discovered Mike's versatility with floor care. He told us about a product that we could use to refinish the floors without sanding them, and promised that we would be happy with the result. Because we had confidence in Mike from his previous work for us, (and probably because we really wanted this to be true) we went with his suggestion. To our delight we saw that our confidence had not been misplaced. Mike helped us clean up the oak flooring, and then went to work on refinishing them. The job that he did on those floors was amazing. The beauty of our living room when the morning sun comes through the windows and shines on the golden oak floor is a sight to behold. I would be remiss if I didn't mention something else about this job. At the time, Mike had a commitment that filled his schedule, and we needed to get into the house very soon. So Mike came over in the evenings and worked late into the night for four nights to get the job done quickly for us. Because of this over-the-top service we were able to meet our schedule, and on top of it we have a beautiful hardwood floor that we enjoy every day throughout the house. We have come to recognize about Mike that he is a rare and great combination of a hard worker, honest and fair businessman, and a pleasant person to be around. He enjoys his work, and I think that contributes to his producing such good results. We have no hesitation in recommending Mike for any carpet cleaning or similar job that you might need to have done.

So far so good. Mike may need to return to do another application. These were dig urine and feces stains, some were months old. His process was far superior to the Chem-Dry process we hired previously - far!!! superior. There are still pale brownish rings where the stains were lifted but not completely extracted by a single cleaning. We realize the carpet was SO extensively stained it may take a couple applications.

Myron did a fantastic job cleaning my carpet. He was on time, professional and friendly. He took the time to explain the work and asked if I had any specific concerns. The carpet looked great, even the soiled area. I would highly recommend him. In fact, I have told several friends that they need to call him for their cleaning needs. I will definitely use FreshWorks again.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How often should carpets be steam cleaned?

Dirty carpets can be unhealthy for the people living in the home, particularly those who have allergies, so it’s important to have them cleaned regularly; simply vacuuming once or twice a week isn’t enough. Carpet cleaning should be done by a professional carpet cleaning service at least once a year to remove grime and help extend the life of your carpet. Most carpet manufacturers recommend professional steam cleaning, which penetrates deep into the carpet fibers and lifts out both dirt and the pollutants that get tracked inside. Steam cleaning also removes most of the moisture, so carpets dry quickly enough for homeowners to resume using them the same day. Between professional carpet cleanings, your carpet may need an emergency spot cleaning. Pet accidents, food or drink spills, and more can often be effectively cleaned with some water and a drop of white vinegar, although many cleaners will also make house calls for smaller spills and hard-to-clean spots like wine or grease stains.

How do you find a good carpet cleaning company?

Regular professional carpet cleaning can both extend the life of your carpet and remove harmful pollutants from your home. Finding a good carpet cleaning company is an important aspect of home maintenance. When choosing a carpet cleaner, consider these top three questions:

  • What method of carpet cleaning do you prefer? Steam cleaning is an increasingly popular method because it’s thorough and safe, and dries quickly enough for you to return to your home the same day the carpets are cleaned.
  • Have you checked the company’s references? Most cities are home to several carpet cleaning companies, so it’s a good idea to check their reviews and references. Look for references from people in your neighborhood with homes similar to yours.
  • What’s included in the base price? What other services does the carpet cleaning company offer? Some companies will move furniture for you, while others charge a fee for it. Some include stairs in the cost of the home’s cleaning, while others charge per step.

What does carpet cleaning cost?

National average carpet cleaning prices range between $100 and $130. Carpet cleaning prices depend on how many square feet of carpet you want cleaned, how many rooms in one house or building will be cleaned, how stained your carpet is, how much the carpet cleaning company charges, your ZIP code, and the type of carpet you have. Cost per square foot can range from 20 cents to $1 or more, based on the above variables. Synthetic carpets are typically the least expensive to clean; natural fibers like wool cost more, as they require more care and attention, as well as more drying time. Excessive stains, challenging locations such as stairs, and accessibility also factor into your carpet cleaning price. Companies may charge a minimum service fee for cleaning a small carpet to cover their business expenses (paying employees, transporting the special equipment to your home). If your pet has repeatedly saturated the carpet with urine or if the fibers are extremely matted down, it may make more sense to completely replace your carpet than to continue to have it cleaned.

How much does it cost to clean a carpet?

Carpet cleaning costs vary depending on the type of cleaning, such as steam cleaning, and whether there are any stains that require special treatment. The main cost factors are the square footage of the carpet and the material it’s made from. The national average carpet cleaning price ranges from $100 to $130 for a typical suburban home, but steam cleaning prices start at an average of $120. In general, professional carpet cleaning ranges from an average of 20 cents to 50 cents per square foot, depending on where you live. Many companies have a minimum fee or room requirement — such as two rooms for an average of $40 each — and will charge more to clean carpeted stairs or a second floor. Finally, the carpet fiber type, density and pile will also affect the cost of cleaning; man-made fibers are stain-resistant and easier to clean, while wool carpeting is sensitive to water and requires more care.

How much does steam cleaning a carpet cost?

Several factors determine the cost of professional carpet cleaning, from the number of rooms in the home to additional carpeted areas to the products used to lift stains. The national average cost to steam clean a carpet ranges from $100 to $130. Most professional carpet cleaning companies’ rates are based on the number of rooms they clean, starting at an average base rate of $30 per room or $55 for two standard rooms and a hallway. Larger rooms may be charged as two rooms or incur a square footage fee. Carpet cleaners often charge by the step to clean a stairway as well as additional fees for closets and hallways; for example, some charge an average of $5 per step. Expect extra fees, starting at an average of $15 per stain, for lifting difficult food, pet or oil stains from carpets. Some carpet cleaning companies offer package deals to also clean furniture and throw rugs while in the home; a chair usually costs an average of $70 to be steam cleaned, and a couch costs an average of $100.
