Silvia was great, exceeded my expectations and made what was once a grimey move-in for our new apartment into a much better living situation. She cleaned the grout and tiles for our bathroom and it almost felt like new. She also did a great job with the floors and went above and beyond putting things away and helping setup our new place.

I was 100% satisfied with the work I had done by this company! They were very helpful and accommodating from the receptionist who answered the phone to the man who came to do my work. They came to my house the same day that I called! The gentleman who came to clean my tile and grout in my kitchen was prompt, knowledgeable, nice and thorough. My floors came out amazing!! The price they gave me was more reasonable than any other company around. I will definitely use this company for any other work in my house that I need!

Ken did a great job repair and replacing about 34 crack ceramic tiles. Ken and his son Austin work very hard and and extremely professional. I also hired Ken to clean and recolor my grout to a nice brown color. My floor look great due to the hard work by Ken and his son. Highly recommend his craftmanship.

I have had the opportunity to work with Michael as a peer, employee, sub-contractor of his company, and hired sub-contractor for my company. Michael truly is the most knowledgeable person I’ve ever worked with when it comes to the Carpet Cleaning, Water Restoration, Upholstery Cleaning, Tile & Grout Cleaning, VCT Floor Care, Window Cleaning, and general Building Service trades. I know this because he is the technician I call when I need help on a project, ideas on how to complete a difficult task, or when I’m just plain stumped! He knows his trade extremely well from the scientific, and more specifically, from the chemistry side as well as from the practical application side. He is great to work with, bringing his attention to detail to every project yet he is able to accomplish tasks efficiently. I would like to emphasize that he expects quality with any job that bears his name. His communication and people skills are excellent, and he has some very innovative ideas. I can highly recommend him for any project you need him for. If a particular job presents obstacles he is well suited to the challenges it provides. In fact he almost does better with a job that presents challenges! Michael is a talented person all the way around. If you need any additional information, please contact me. Absolutely wonderful service! These women are very professional and did an excellent job of cleaning my apartment. They were courteous of the law office down stairs and also very understanding of the difficult parking near my place. They had all their own equipment and our place looks gorgeous. I would recommend to anyone looking for a serious cleaning. They did my fridge, oven and bathroom. They removed discoloration in my shower that I have been trying to scrub away for months and months! Thank you, ladies !!!

He worked very rapidly (1 -1/2 hours) and the tub cleaning now allows me to re-grout problem areas. He was kind enough to leave me a grout scraping tool which I will return to him very soon. Hope the rest of this project goes as smoothly. While his clean-up is not as thorough as I would have liked, the bathroom needed cleaning anyway.

Cida and Janine are wonderful! With three ladies, they cleaned our house efficiently and beautifully. We have about 2800sq ft and hardwood floors were left spotless, bathrooms shined and my kitchen, which we use multiple times a day, is cleaned to perfection. The ladies are very friendly and trustworthy. There's no doubt we will continue to hire them!

I had an excellent experience with Groutastic. The owner came to my house to perform an estimate and was friendly and very informative. I hired them to do a kitchen floor cleaning and was very satisfied. My grout looks new again. I am going to have them back in the Springtime to clean and sand my pavers!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How can I get my grout clean?

Dirt, mildew and grime can make your grout lines look downright tragic. If you have the ability, DIY tile and grout cleaning is definitely doable. Your main obstacles are time, project size, availability of the right materials and effort. Your first step in tile and grout cleaning is making sure the surface area is cleaned of basic dirt and buildup and wiped down. Be sure not to use a bleach-based cleaning agent, which could react dangerously with the vinegar used in later steps.

Depending on the delicacy of your tile and grout, it may be wise to start with water and friction before proceeding to a cleaning solution. In the shower you can spray the area while brushing gently, or use a spray bottle filled with warm water on countertops or floors. If water won’t do the trick, try a solution of equal parts warm water and white vinegar, and repeat the gentle brushing motion. This combination should begin to lift dirt and grime from the grout. For additional tile and grout cleaning power, baking soda applied directly to grout lines and sprayed with your water vinegar solution can help suds off sticky grime. If your DIY cleaning solutions aren’t doing the trick, store-bought sprays and pastes may have more cleansing power. Rinse thoroughly after cleaning and enjoy your sparkling clean grout.

Tile and grout cleaning supplies include:

  • Old standard or electric toothbrush
  • Stiff bristle brush
  • Spray bottle
  • White vinegar
  • Commercial grout cleaner

How much does it cost to clean tile and grout?

The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Pros may charge a flat fee or by the square foot. Rates can vary depending on the type of tile and grout you have (more delicate tiles may mean specialized products or careful handwashing), how dirty your tile and grout are, and what part of the country you are in (regional labor rates and costs to do business affect costs). For example, one floor cleaning company charges 75 cents per square foot for tile and grout cleaning for projects that permit cleaning by machine. Another company may charge $30-$50 per hour for hand-cleaning of tiles. Companies often charge a minimum fee for services to ensure their business expenses are met when they accept a job, no matter how small. In addition, a tile and flooring cleaning professional may charge added fees, such as $25 or more, to move heavy furniture or appliances.

How do professionals clean tile and grout?

If you need tile and grout cleaning and don’t have the time or mobility for scrubbing your entire house on your hands and knees, it’s time to turn to the pros. Tile and grout cleaning professionals have industrial-grade machines designed for the sole task of cleaning the porous materials of grout and tile. Typically, a cleaning pro will come out to assess the job and provide you with a quote. Often they charge per square foot (for example, 75 cents per square foot), with higher prices or an hourly rate for areas that will need hand cleaning. The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Once onsite, the pros thoroughly clean the area by wiping or sweeping down and then vacuuming up any dry dirt. Next a chemical tile cleaner is sprayed over the surface, causing dirt to loosen and adhere to the spray; the industry term for this is “suspension.” The pros then clean the floor with professional-strength machines, which often use a combination of steam, brushes and vacuum to loosen, agitate and lift entrenched dirt. Your floor is then rinsed, removing all the spray. Usually a small room can be cleaned in under an hour. Applying a sealant afterward is recommend and will also affect cost.
