Introduction: SCHOOL SUPPORT: Feeling overwhelmed and struggling with your school work? Help is on the way!  I offer K-12 tutoring for all subjects, and test prep. 1 on 1 sessions, scheduled at your convenience. I work with different types of learning styles, visual, auditory, as well as accommodate kids with learning challenges and special needs. Well versed with public and private school curriculums. ABOUT ME: I'm an award-winning educator (Top Pro 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017, Best of Thumbtack 2016) and founder of the dynamic education company ConnectPrep. I teach all subjects (K-12), AP/IB subjects and test prep (ACT, SAT, SAT subject tests, ISEE, SSAT, PSAT, SHSAT, and the TACHS test). My goal is to redefine “tutoring” by using innovative teaching methods to find solutions for our students. I connect concepts, simplify, and create opportunities for students of all ages to excel in the classroom. As a result the majority of my students score in the 98th or higher percentiles on the ACT and SAT. LEARNING CHALLENGES: I also have extensive experience working with students who have various learning challenges such as ADHD, CAPD (Central Auditory Processing Disorder), Dyslexia, and EFD ( Executive Function Deficit). COLLEGE ADVISING: If you are in need of College Advising, I have an incredibly high placement rate with students who have applied to the most competitive universities and programs. Additionally, my company ConnectPrep is also a member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling and subscribes to its high standards of integrity and professional practices to better serve our students. These are some of the college application components we work on: Evaluate all and assemble a college list Letters of Recommendation Networking Letters Resume Internships/Extracurricular Activities Essays Application Options (ED,REA,EA,RD,Transfer) Interview Prep (If Needed) Complete and Review all Applications Financial aid and scholarship qualification strategies A partial list of college acceptances: Numerous BS/MD programs with average acceptance rates <5%, all majors and specializations, Cornell, Northwestern, Washington University in St. Louis,Penn, Harvard, Stanford, UVA, UMich, Middlebury College,Colby College, Wesleyan, Bates, UVA, Wake Forest,Emory,Pomona,Columbia,NYU (Honors/Stern Business),Yeshiva (Honors),University of Florida,University of Miami,Southern Cal,UCLA,University of Wisconsin,University of Chicago,Duke,Amherst,Yale,Cal Berkeley,Boston College, UNC,Carnegie Mellon, George Washington, Dartmouth, Brown,Williams, Oberlin, Case Western,William and Mary,Vanderbilt, Occidental, RISD, MIT, Villanova, Princeton,Oxford,Cambridge,McGill University, Georgetown, University of Wisconsin, Boston University, Boston College, John Hopkins, Northeastern, Harvey Mudd, Rice, Notre Dame, Richmond Many of my students have been awarded scholarships and financial aid that has covered significant or even 100% of tuition costs. There are many great colleges to choose from and I work hard to ensure my students choose a school that aligns with their future goals. The fit, environment, programs, etc... are areas that I really focus on. Some schools are also more generous with financial aid packages and have larger endowments. I am very transparent with this as it's always wonderful being accepted, but the finances have to work for each family. I love teaching and always being in a creative environment that varies everyday. The reward of seeing my students overcome challenges, gain confidence, and reach their goals is incredible!

Test Prep Services

I initially reached out to Jeremy for ACT tutoring for my son but in turn got so much more. Jeremy is very knowledgeable in every aspect of a child's high school and college experience and all that is expected of them. This knowledge was incredibly valuable to us. Jeremy was not simply a tutor to help with a test score but has become a mentor to my son and has stayed with us on the whole college journey. Jeremy is able to see a child's true potential and unlock the confidence they need to grow into who they were meant to be. He was with us from school selection, application essays, prepping for college interviews and reviewing acceptance packages. We were grateful that Jeremy was in our corner the whole time. My son is now heading to his dream school with an amazing offer.

College Admissions Counseling

I reached out to Jeremy after reading all the positive feedbacks on thumbtack. His services have been extremely valuable in helping my son (a 9th grader) in school course selection, summer activities, internship and extracurricular activities planning. He shared tailored ideas and advice that fit my son's strength and interest very well. His tutoring definitely helped my son to make well informed decisions, to start thinking more strategically in school and extracurricular activity involvement. Jeremy is an excellent tutor and greater communicator. My son really enjoyed talking to him. I really appreciate the positive influence he has had. My son opened up a lot more and started sharing thoughts and discussing with us after a few tutoring sessions with Jeremy.

Reading and Writing Tutoring

The ConnectPrep team and my instructor helped me find the confidence I needed to succeed on a variety of different college level courses I was taking. I was having some academic challenges with a few math classes, writing some of my papers, and taking exams. After using ConnectPrep, I was able to feel confident before an exam, and see the results of my hard work pay off for the first time. They took the time to understand me, my challenges, and mentored me on a personal level beyond what I could have expected. Well worth the investment and would recommend this to anyone considering using their services!

Test Prep Services

Jeremy was truly the most helpful guide throughout both my ACT test prep and college selection experiences. He really emphasizes building a strong rapport with his students and treats his students like equals, which I truly appreciated given my bad/demeaning tutoring experiences beforehand. Jeremy helped raise my ACT score from a 31 to a 34, which is a big accomplishment for me as I'm normally a very anxious test taker. He also helped me get into Wake Forest University, Northeastern, Villanova, BU, UC Santa Barbara, among others. He was the most dependent, reassuring, and kind mentor throughout my entire process! I couldn't recommend him enough!

College Admissions Counseling

Jeremy and the ConnectPrep team helped me get into colleges and universities which I originally thought were out of my reach. They instilled confidence and the belief that you can achieve your academic goals from the beginning. I worked hard, but was able to structure my schedule and they kept me on track throughout the entire application process. I was not only accepted into my first choice school, but my overall confidence in my writing, interviewing, and test taking abilities increased dramatically. Since they can help with any academic subject, I was also able to get some tutoring for my other classes. Jeremy’s work not only helped me get into Bates College, but it also helped me to thrive once I got here.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I work with my families and create a payment structure to stay within their budget. I truly believe that everyone should have access to a quality education and the opportunity to advance their skills.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Each student learns differently and I emphasize a team based approach (student-instructor-parents-school teachers) built around positive reinforcement and assessments that identify the teaching that will be most effective with each individual student. After the initial meeting, I will then create a curriculum for each student based on my assessments. As we continue our sessions, I provide a lesson plan each week and continue to monitor my student’s progress.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have been teaching academic, test-prep, and study skills to my students for 10+ years. I am also a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis.
