Gary arrived on time and finished what had been quoted as a 3-5 hr job in 1.5 hrs. It was all demolition and no junk removal. $400 for demolition only. I would have liked a price reduction because the job was easier than expected but I didn’t ask for it so that’s on me. I’m actually glad that it didn’t take up much of my day.
I made great improvements with Ellen. My friends, especially those who are native speakers, thought I did not need a class like this. Not true! I find Ellen has particularly good ears for accents - this is what she is trained to do after all. Because I had to move, I'm working with some other folks who are not familiar with foreign accents and they are just as forgiving as my American friends who barely points out any mistakes I make as along as they understand me. But if you speak with a foreign accent like I do, you know the disadvantage that put you in. Ellen is always professional and very approachable. I find her homework very helpful if you do it on time and really study her feedback. I was skeptical at first about the evaluation as I thought I knew what my problems were, but I was wrong at least partially. It turns out the dark L was particular hard for me that I didn't know and I'm still struggling. Ellen's class is a good start to learn the correct way to say it, but you've got to practice and practice to make it your own. You are changing your habitual way of speaking after all. All in all, I think Ellen is a rare find in the area, if not in the whole country. So make use of the opportunity of working with her and good luck to everyone!
Excellent tutor. Patient and helpful. Speaks clearly. She also provided help on my destination, Argentina, and its different accent. Moreover, she's a very nice person.
Katherine is a very professional English teacher with extensive experience in pronunciation and accent reduction. Her customized classes offered me good insights and strategies on how to change my accent to sound more like a native speaker. It has been a good experience for me and will be beneficial to both my personal and professional development.
As a teacher/vocal coach in NYC, I have worked with a variety of organizations and companies---all focused on Accent Reduction/Dialects, Voice, ESL, etc. In my experience, American Cultural Immersion is at the top! This company truly cares about its clients and their success, and there is a personal touch to the way clients are dealt with.
