- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to meet new potential clients so that I can get a feel for their case and what they want to accomplish, and so that they can get a feel for me and the ways I think they can achieve the outcomes they want.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Sheraz Barkat is a family law attorney in Washington, D.C. As a divorce and child custody attorney, Sheraz has litigated several divorce and child custody matters including complex property distributions, overseas property, child support modifications, childhood name change, military benefits, and much more. Sheraz has also represented clients in numerous uncontested divorces. He appears frequently before the Domestic Relations Branch of the D.C. Superior Court, and has also volunteered there as an attorney-negotiator. Prior to his time as a practicing attorney Sheraz was a Congressional Staffer for Senator John D. Rockefeller IV for several years working on small business, tax, veterans, and trade policy for the Senator. After graduating law school he studied in Sydney, Australia where he focused on international civil litigation and comparative family law. Sheraz is a member of the District of Columbia Bar, the American Bar Association, and the South Asian Bar Association. - What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Make sure that you are comfortable with your attorney and that you both are on the same page as to what you want to accomplish in your case.
