FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I don’t know of any real uniformed pricing structure with carpentry work. Personally I want to be reasonable with pricing, and keep it in the middle of high and low.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Try and understand what it is they want, then plan out the project. So before starting, should have a rough schedule for starts/completions smaller segments of the overall job. A reasonably accurate costing out of material, associated expenses. Be aware of any materials with long lead times. If more than one trade is involved, should be some level of Coordination of Trades as well.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
OJT, learn as you go. Whenever there’s something new, there’s at least one co-worker who has done it before and teaches it. Else you would be finding someone and have them lead on that particular aspect of the job.
