We had a roof leak that caused obvious damage to an exterior wall and the interior sheetrock. We invited 4 contractors in to give us a price. The first 3 seemed to know what they were doing and submitted detailed quotes. PropService Handyman, who for the balance of this review we will refer to as Eugene and Lana were the 4th to look @ the job. Eugene spent a considerably longer time inspecting the damage, getting down on his hands and knees, & looking at details the others did not. He believed that there was more damage than we could see & believed that some of the floor was damaged and perhaps a little of the ceiling. Further he thought it was possible that some of the studs might need to be replaced. We also had some cracks in an exterior wall separate from this water damage. Lana quoted us an exact price for the unrelated wall, and a range of what the damaged wall could cost, the number to be made exact once Eugene opened it up. We were very impressed with their knowledge and honesty about what the scope of work that might be required. Instead of quoting the highest number based on the worst-case scenario, they wanted to wait and see how bad or (not) the damage was to provide a fair price for the work required. We signed an agreement and gave them a deposit on a Friday, and they came the following Monday to start.
Upon opening the wall as promised Eugene determined what exactly needed to be done. We nailed down an exact price for the job that we were al satisfied with. The workmanship Eugene and his associate Stephan produced was above compare. After opening the wall to the outside, they replaced about 7 studs, matched the stucco on the outside, and the texture on the new sheetrock inside, & matched both the exterior and interior paint colors perfectly. You would never know that any work has been done on either of these walls. These people are artists!
Eugene, Lana, & Stephan were here for about a week, and at the end of each day they cleaned up the work area. We were so impressed with their work, that we added some additional tasks to the project. Eugene installed three smoke alarms, repaired and painted an additional exterior wall, repaired a roof drain that was causing a crack in one wall, installed 4 cabinets and a countertop in a storage area, and removed two sets of closet doors. It was a pleasure to have these folks in our home; we now consider them to be friends. You cannot go wrong hiring these people for any job large or small.
