When I first spoke with Tony (DJ Not a Panda) I was looking for a DJ for my wedding. What sold me was his confidence in his MC skills, rightfully so. He really made the night one to remember. He played great music and has great personality on the mic. He made sure to communicate with me before and throughout the night to make sure everything was what I wanted it to be. People were on the dance floor from start to finish. Tony even came out and led some of the line dances that I wanted to do but wasn’t as familiar with. I even had several of my guests tell me how great the DJ was. Tony was awesome, the night wouldn’t have been the same without him!

Great DJ! I was planning a Homecoming for a Non-profit organization and I came across Thumbtack that suggested Not a Panda, and i was pleasantly surprised how fast I got a reply and a DJ booked. He was affordable, asked all the right questions, and was super patient with all of the kids.

Tony did a phenomenal job despite the challenge he faced. We had a trilingual wedding. English, Spanish, and Turkish. The Vibes went from nerd to traditional turkish dances to bad bunny to country and everywhere in between. Tony killed it! He had everyone dancing all night, managed all our request, and kept us on schedule throughout the night. He was fun and kind to work with. His PhotoBooth worked flawlessly and was so worth the add on. His custom song service is invaluable - you should definitely purchase it. He created a catchy beautiful song and took all my feedback to create what I had envisioned. You can tell Tony loves his job and cares about his clients. Don’t hesitate to bring Tony on- I know I was surprised at how reasonable his rates were and how kind he was and thought maybe it was too good to be true- it’s not! Tony truly cares. Thank you Tony!

We cannot recommend DJ Not A Panda enough!
From start to finish, he was lively, helpful, communicative, and incredibly collaborative. He made us feel reassured throughout the entire process and was so accommodating, even when we changed our first dance song just two days before the wedding! He handled every last-minute detail with ease and made sure everything stayed on schedule without adding any stress to our day.
His timing was absolutely perfect, and he knew exactly how to read the crowd and keep the energy going. One of our favorite moments was when he actually got out on the dance floor to do the Footloose dance himself, teaching our guests the moves and encouraging everyone to join in! It was such a fun, memorable moment that perfectly captured the energy he brought to our wedding.
Having a DJ who is not only talented but also genuinely invested in making your day special makes such a difference. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I keep prices in simple increments, and all prices are duscussed up front, no surprises.
I charge a 20% retainer to book the date, the rest can be paid at the end of the event.
You can easily find prices on my website! :)
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
To reserve a date for your event, I need two items: 1. A signed copy of my DJ Agreement, and 2. The retainer.
I'll send you a link to a private client portal where you can sign all agreements, fill out any forms, and even pay the invoice!
I provide an itinerary worksheet that helps you organize your ideas, and might even inspire new ideas. Before the event I will reach out with a reminder to fill make sure it's all up to date. Once the worksheet is finished, I'll encourage scheduling a call where I will read out your directions in a way that helps you to see how I'll interpret the instructions. This way we can clear up any misunderstandings.
Then throughout the event I periodically touch base with you to make sure I can adjust to any plan changes, or suggest ideas.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've always done stuff that engages with people. Waiting tables, theater, band, public speaking events, etc. It's been a very fun, sometimes very difficult journey.
I have no formal training as a DJ, it was just a chance meeting that got me into the industry!
