I worked with Global Commission Partners on their website, and their previous designer had shoved their donation page into an OpenCart shopping solution - which caused problems when it came to allowing donors to set up monthly contributions. Their donors could only make a one-time contributions - which severely hurt their monthly donations. No plug-in solution was available to remedy this issue, so after a few meetings, we decided that the best path was to create our own. I worked for a few months integrating with their payment solution provider's APIs (in this case, Authorize.net), and at the end of it, they had a payment portal that allowed them to manage items/projects, and enabled donors to make automatically-billed monthly donations. This not only increased their monthly donation intake, but kept it steady from month to month.
