Evan worked on replacing a problem switch for us. a small job, He was on time, fixed the problem quickly, very reasonable price, our problem solved, he was polite, explained issue well. Nice little job.

I thought he charged me a lot of money for what he did but I'm glad he came on a moment's notice. Turns out someone bought me the wrong fuses so he went and got the right ones and put one in for me and charged me $120. But he was a very nice young man and I now have power. I'm just glad I am back to normal and I'd probably call Evan again.

Existing reviews must be fake/family. Fortunately for you Evan thumbtack doesn't fight fake reviews as hard as larger companies. Just add a few more. Do not hire. Does sloppy work and will not return unless he thinks he wont get paid. Likes to quote as "i'll help you out", "i'll take care of you", "you found the right person", "i'm only going to charge you X per circuit and take care of everything in between". Which in the end (before paying someone else to fix his work) translated to an average of over $110 an hour plus me buying all materials and him keeping the extra. Yes that's over $40 and hour higher than highly rated independent people doing electrical work. He also kept $69 (3x$23) in dimmer switches I paid him for and left 3 used regular switches in their place. What did I do? Let it go. I'm busy. The work I asked for is done. I have a lot more that needs to get done. Move on. Give one man a rope and he'll build a house. Give another man a rope and he'll hang himself. The first problem I found with his work I contacted him Sunday and he didn't respond until Monday. He came back to resolve. I wondered why. Does he stand behind his work or is he just trying to make more cash? Then he said PayPal hadn't released my last payment to him yet. (The real reason he came to fix his work) So, I still gave him the benefit of doubt and contacted PayPal on the spot to manually release it in good faith. PayPal releases on a schedule unless the customer gets involved. Note he only took PayPal because when I tried to make the last payment to him via zelle he was having a problem with his bank. A week later I found another problem he caused that halted work on insulation install and delayed drywall install. Contacted Sunday Feb 13th with a photo of the problem. He replied Monday Feb 14th saying grandmother passed and he would fix by Thursday Feb 17th. Friday Feb 18th still no communication Friday Feb 18th, paid another electrician to fix his work so we could continue working. Thursday Feb 24th, still no contact from him (but he's still active and communicating with others on thumbtack). Emergencies happen to EVERYBODY. It's part of life and also a common excuse used by low lifes. Everything from fake obituaries to fake doctor notes are just as normal as real ones. I'm easy. Instead of trying to figure out if you're lying, I'll judge by what you do. People say anything but honest people's actions match their words. Besides that, if I have a emergency nobody's going to say it's okay, I don't have to pay for work they did. Especially if they see me still doing business with others. Each day I was on thumbtack, he was active (online, online 3 hours ago, online 23min ago, online, etc, instead of "offline" or last active 1 week ago like other profiles of people not active on the platform. In other words, he didn't fix his work because of a personal problem but he's still active on Thumbtack communicating with people for new business. I reached out to him through paypal. He didn't reply but was still active on Thumbtack. Almost 2 weeks and no word from him, but still active on thumbtack. He could have refunded my cost to hire someone to fix his work but didn't. He could have offered to send someone out to fix the work but didn't. Even though he knew it was holding up insulation and drywall scheduling. He could have reached out and said I can't make it until "xx/xx/xx" date but didn't. Yet he was still active on thumbtack. There was a lot of sloppy work from him that I just accepted because it was easy to fix (temporary electrical wire staples left on surface where drywall goes, some recessed lighting not mounted flush with stud, 1 electrical box mounted incorrect depth, 1 damaged recessed light during installation). They are all easy fixes and not important when you're trying to work with people as they are. Give slack, pay a premium, and people still want to play games. This is the thanks you get. I paid him. Then I had to pay someone else to fix his work while he used a death in the family as a excuse to not fix his work but was still doing business with others. That is sad.
