In a world full of "YouTube Experts" and board-breaking black belts, there are few Self-Defense instructors who have actually fought for their lives and can teach real-world techniques that actually work.
This is what I do. As a SWAT officer, I've fought for my life numerous times. In addition, I've studied martial arts for nearly 40 years and have acquired four black belts.
I've taught thousands of people throughout the USA and abroad.
This is the real deal...no phony choreographed Hollywood/YouTube techniques that only work when someone is taking video.
This is a serious topic, but I also make it FUN and you are guaranteed to smile and laugh during training. I'm not the "tough-guy" trainer. I am very compassionate and patient.
So, let's get started! :)
I change lives.
I know that many of my students have been through bad situations. I enjoy taking them out of that "helpless" state and bringing them into a state of empowerment.
For those who have never experienced a "bad situation", I enjoy preparing them with the skills to defend themselves in the event that such an incident occurs.
My goal is to change the statistics of rape and sexual assault by providing information, strategies and training that mentally and physically prepares women to FIGHT BACK effectively.

I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to train with Ken Stephens. I have a history of trauma that made it very challenging for me to reach out and seek a self-defense instructor. From our first email contact, I felt that Ken really cares about his clients -- this is so very true. Ken made me feel comfortable from the get-go and I appreciate how he explains his approach based on his past experiences and research. I have spent years living in fear and viewing myself as a victim, but after a few hours learning the Ladies F.I.R.S.T. method, I not only have practical and realistic tools to defend myself, but I have a renewed confidence in my ability to be a survivor. I did private self-defense lessons with Ken and he is an amazing teacher. He's very kind and professional and sends weekly encouraging texts/updates! He works you physically and mentally, so by the end of it I not only know the techniques (that actually work in the real world) but I also have the confidence that I can use them if needed. I am very excited to be able to show my friends back up at school what I have learned and what they can learn too! Thank you Ken!!

I hired Kendrick Stephens to come to my office and provide my Real Estate Agents with valuable self-defense skills. He taught us moves that could save our lives, used examples to bring home the real life scenarios we may face and was open to answering our questions. In addition, he was on-time, brought and set-up his own equipment and didn't seem to mind when we went over a couple of minutes. I will definitely use Ken's services in the future and recommend him to anyone looking to stay safe!

This is a life empowering experience. Ken is able to transform potential experiences of fear, attack, helplessness, into simple concepts and confidence that ENDS this fear. Situational awareness all delivered straightforward, no gimmick no ego even though he's a rock star!

Ken is the greatest self defense teachers I have ever had the pleasure of learning from. I work in public safety and have taken many self defense classes which all prove to be BS. Try any of the tactics used on you tube or in a class I took and you would die before you could begin to use what they teach. Ken teaches practical self defense and teaches it to where you will remember. Taking his ladies first class will change your life! You will learn how to protect yourself from being raped, kidnapped,assaulted or possibly killed. Go home and try these tactics from Ken on your husband and they actually really work! Learn to protect yourself from ken. You won't regret it!!!
