FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My quotes include setup and breakdown time so you should plan on about 90 minutes of setup time before the event and 90 minutes of breakdown time after the event.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I treat everyone like a new customer because I believe it is an honor to play a role in helping make your event memorable. Here's how an engagement with me typically plays out: 1: LETS TALK Before agreeing to any services, I like us to actually talk about the event your planning to get a better sense for what is most important to you. This helps us both figure out what services might be the best fit. 2: REVISED QUOTE & AGREEMENT Based on this conversation, I'll send you a more detailed quote. Hopefully you choose to work with me at that point :). If you decide to work with me, all I need is an email saying as much and you'll be locked in. No need to sign a contract or make a deposit. I trust you! 3: COLLABORATION Once we agree to work together, I like to collaborate with you and even event participants to request songs all the way up to the day event. This typically happens through twitter, text or a QR code you can place on event invitations, posters or flyers. I also like to collaborate on Spotify. 4: SETUP I typically like to start setting up at least 3 hours before the event starts. This gives me enough time to setup, test and deal with any last minute surprises (Ask me about these sometime, if you want a good laugh). Dont worry though. I don't charge for 3 hours of setup time. It only takes me about 90 minutes to actually setup and I only charge for that. 5: DURING THE EVENT Just enjoy yourself while I carry you and your crowd on a memorable musical journey through positive high-energy dance music! If you want guests to request songs during the event, then they can text me, tweet me, snap me or scan a QR code. This helps me track and screen everything. 6: BREAKDOWN It takes me about 90 minutes to wrap everything up and leave. I usually play music during this time so anyone else who is tasked with cleaning up after can do so with a song in their step. 7: INVOICING After the event I will send you an invoice which it typically due within 30 days. It's worth noting that I do not expect payment from you until after I've provided services. I work this way mainly because I simply trust you. I also work this way in case any changes to my services are needed at the last minute (e.g. you need me to play longer/shorter).
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Ready for a big surprise? DJ'ing is not my full time job. I'm an Experience Designer which means my day job is all about understanding customers and anticipating what they'll need, want and expect from products and services. My professional training combines art, computer science, psychology, business and design. apply those skills to my passions for providing the perfect soundtrack for an event and you have one powerful combination!
