A. Custom decks, My infamous Pampered pet porch, Laminate and tile flooring, Repairing other peoples bad work, and Custom stuff like built in book cases and nick knack shelves.
Q. Describe three recent jobs you've completed.
A. I just finished a custom bathroom. hand made medicine cabinet with stained glass. It is absolutely beautiful. Customer loved it so much I am tiling their whole house.
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. Look at the quality of work not the price, Remember you get what you pay for.
Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?
A. What kind of work do you do? Quality or quantity?
I prefer quality.
Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. A customer told me recently. " You are very good and pay attention to the details and I am happy that I waited for you to do the work." That was the biggest compliment ever. The reason my work stands out, is because I pay attention to the details and I do the work like I would like it to be done. NO SHORT CUTS OR SLOP JOBS. I refuse to charge less to do lesser quality!
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. I love making things beautiful and making people happy. PERIOD! I am not in this business for the money,
Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A. Most of my customers ask " what do I charge and why do I charge that? " I reply with this. You can get a cheaper price and as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. If you want it done right and at a fair price then call me" Otherwise it is what it is. Again I refuse to do less than quality work.
Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?
A. Not long ago I had a customer call me to install some windows. When I gave him a price he laughed. He said I can have it done for half that price. I said ok and thank you. Two weeks later he called back. He said he had the windows installed and they are all not right and the trim on the inside looks horrible. Will you come fix it. I responded, SURE I will. It will be a little more than I originally quoted though. He was a little upset about it but when I explained that I have to remove the windows and start over from scratch to make them right, it took him a few min to understand but then agreed to my price. When I was finished he came to me and said, " Son I have been around this world for a long time and never ever thought a young man would teach me such a valuable lesson" I asked what was that? He said " YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR" I had to chuckle a little. Then he gave me a 100.00 bonus for his lesson. We have now become good friends!
Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?
A. Tired of seeing crappy work and people paying too much for it. I realized I had a great talent and a friend in the business said you need to do this. He taught me a lot and let me go. I have been doing it ever since. 12 years now.
Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?
A. I will say sort of. I recently received my insurance adjusters license and my home inspectors license.
Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?
A. Provide quality work. Don't be afraid to charge a little extra in order to provide that quality. When the word gets out that you do awesome work, you will not need any advertising. I am only on here to expand my name to a greater area.
Q. Write your own question and answer it.
A. Would you rather have someone charge you a lot for a low quality job or someone charge you a lot for a high quality job?
Most people want great work for the lowest price. I understand that. I believe you can have a little of both. This is why I stay busy. Folks pay a little more for the the good stuff it is worth it.
