Leslie has been great! She leaves a note every day with a summary of what she and Kona did and what time she stopped by. It's clear she is an animal person. I have more peace of mind knowing that my Kona is in good hands!

I have been using Waggin Trail Express for the past 10 years. I really shouldn't have dogs because I travel so much. I just can't live without dogs in my life. Becky and Gordon make that so easy for me. I started off with a Pug, Suzie. She loved it there. She passed, and I now have an English Bulldog, Bentley. He is a big gentle giant, and a scaredy cat on top of that. Anything new he doesn't like. Well, when he sees me packing his doggie bag for Waggin Trails, he runs to the front door 'waiting' on Gordon to come pick him up. Even hours in advance, he just sits there waiting. He loves them that much. I then added a French Bulldog, Buster, to the family. So, now I have 2 dogs anxiously waiting by the front door. I know when I'm gone that they are with a family that loves them as much as I do. I tell Waggin Trail Express that I think my dogs think that "they" are the owners and "I'm" the dogsitter. I couldn't do without them! I told them if they ever stopped doing what they do, I would simply have to stop traveling... I would be lost without them. I wish there were more than 5 stars. They would have gotten 100!

Nikki did an outstanding job with my Chocolate Lab Bella.. Bella is a rescue dog with a lot of anxiety issues. Nikki kept Bella from 9:00am today until 6:30pm.. She even bathed her and trimmed her nails. Bella has lots of issues with her paws and Nikki did an excellent job. She played and walked her several times during the day and sent me pics and updates...Her prices are very reasonable. I will be taking Bella back . I highly recommend Nikki's Pet Service!!!! She is the BEST!!! Thank you so much Nikki's Pet Service for taking such good care of my sweet girl!

Pinky loves animals so much, it shows in how much they love her back. My cats love when she visits, and she takes perfect care of them every time. One of them has a finnicky diet, but he's perfectly taken care of every time. If you're like me and your animals are like your kids, this is the right person to trust with them!

My dogs name is Buddy and he is a Jack Russell. Buddy had a lot of nervous tendencies and aggressive behavior towards other animals. Caleb's training made buddy obidient and social with other dogs. Caleb also gave me the skills to continue the on going process. These days buddy even plays well with my girlfriends cat.

I first met Wally and Edith in April of 2013 when I began attending basic obedience class with my Weimaraner puppy (Oliver). I have been attending class between one and two times a week since then. Oliver has been boarded with Wally and Edith on three occasions. The first time was in the summer of 2013 for approximately 50 days while I was studying law in France. The second and third times were after that for about 5 days each time. Wally and Edith are the only people I will trust Oliver with, aside from his vet. Wally and Edith have many students and EVERY student that I have met over the last year, has the upmost respect and admiration for them. Additionally, Oliver has made monumental strides in terms of obedience. As a result, Wally and Edith have helped me develop and strengthen my relationship with him. I encourage you to visit their website and visit one of their classes if you have any questions as to the quality of training that Wally and Edith provide.

      About

I love animals and would love to make some college money while caring for them. I am especially well versed in dog and equestrian care. I am happy to care for your pet! Messes don't bother me, and I'm a huge animal lover. Grooming is something I am willing to offer, though I don't claim to be a professional. I can exercise your pet as well, especially if you need a rider to hack a horse or a dog walker.

      About

I do pet sitting, walking and basic training of animals! I have experience with dogs, cats, birds and exotic animals too!

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      What is horse boarding?

Horse boarding is like rental housing for your horse. Horse boarding is helpful for people who don’t have the space or the resources to install and maintain a stable on their property. A horse can be housed in a barn with other horses and receive the care they need. Owners can visit their horse for riding, grooming, training, etc. Horse boarding services may vary based on the company and the price. Some horse boarders may offer short-term boarding of 24 hours to several nights for people passing through an area, while most offer boarding by the month for horses whose owners live in the area. There is partial- and full-service boarding, which indicates how much of the work of feeding the horse and cleaning the stall is the responsibility of the owner rather than the boarding barn. For an added fee, horse boarding can also include grooming services, riding and training, medication administration, and more.

To find the right boarding fit for you and your horse, make a list of your top priorities. These might include immediate access to riding trails, round-the-clock supervision, or a nearby or affiliated veterinarian. Always visit the site to learn exactly where your horse will be kept and whether the barn and grounds are in good condition. Read reviews, and always practice smart hiring. It’s also critical to sign the proper legal documents that protect both you and your horse, such as boarding agreements. Above all, make sure it seems like a place your horse will be comfortable between your visits.

Where can I board my horse?

You can board your horse at any barn or stable that provides horse boarding services. To find horse boarding near you, read reviews of area locations and speak with equestrian friends to find one with a solid reputation. Ideally, the location will be within a reasonable drive from your home or office. This is especially important if you are paying for partial boarding services and are responsible for feeding your horse and cleaning its stall each day. You may choose your boarding barn or stables based on the services they provide. Some offer more extensive amenities — at an added price — that reduce the amount of work you need to do to keep your horse comfortable. Consider whether you want training, blanketing, exercise and other perks in addition to standard offerings like hay and stable mucking. Your stable may have temperament requirements and proof that your horse has the proper vaccinations required by your state. This protects both your horse and the other horses in the stable. Many states require that locations offering horse boarding services have stable licenses that are renewed each year. Always be sure to enter into a clearly written boarding contract that will cover your horse and belongings in case of accident, and remember our tips for smart hiring.

How much does boarding a horse cost?

Finding the right horse boarding location is a big step in a horse owner’s life. This will be the place your horse will live and where you will visit multiple times per week or even daily. The cost of horse boarding will depend on the level of service you desire, the location of the stables, and the luxury level of the property. Here are some examples of average horse boarding costs:

      • Overnight stabling: $30 per horse per night.
      • Partial boarding (owner feeds and mucks): $220 per horse per month, with a three-month commitment.
        • Administration of oral medication: $10 per dose.
        • Bandaging: $20 per event, plus cost of materials.
        • Trailering to vet if owner is unable: $25, plus $25 per hour to wait with horse.
      • Basic full boarding: $325-$350 per month per horse. Includes twice daily hay and daily stall cleaning.
        • Horse training: $20 per session.
        • Pasture turn out: $20 per session.
        • Blanketing: $1 per day/$30 per month.
        • Vet or farrier hold: $20. This means haltering the horse and standing with it as it receives treatment or shoeing.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
