Introduction: Most tutors today focus in just educating their students on a problem to problem basis. This helps the student learn from their mistakes, but it doesn't provide them with a mental process on how to evaluate and solve new problems. It merely prepares them for problems they have already seen. I focus on teach the students how to do both learn the new concept and apply it. I love when you have a student who isn't confident in their math skills, and after working with them, seeing the confidence they have that they can in fact solve difficult problems.

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I tutored all throughout my high school years as a volunteer. I was even made the head tutor of the tutoring program. After I graduated I didn't really think about tutoring as a source of income until I received a call from my high school math teacher. She said that there were students who needed math tutoring and I was the first person that came to her mind. Ever since then I've been tutoring.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

The most common subjects are typically geometry and algebra.

  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I have a student who is in pre-calculus and on the first time I went to tutor him I realized that he was learning subjects that had never been taught. However, I was able to quickly read his notes and teach it to him in a way that he understood.
