I can see why my student is having difficulty with the subject matter and will take the time to sharpen his or her understanding of prerequisite knowledge in order to proceed with his current studies. My students generally struggle because their fundamentals are weak. I help them to gain a strong foundation upon which to build.
I like watching my student progress from confusion and anxiety to clarity of thought, an accurate understanding of the course material and the confidence to perform assignments with confidence and enthusiasm. My tutoring sessions start out with my explaining a lot and my student struggling to follow to where my student eagerly attacks the problems and only occasionally asks for help. I know they are on their way to an A when we can sit through an entire homework session and they have essentially done it all on their own.

Mr. LeClair was showed up promptly and was well prepared for the lesson. He understands the subject matter and clearly presents the portions that I do not grasp. He is patient, organized and consistently increases my understanding of the subject. My quiz and tests grades show it. After worrying about failing, I finished the course with an A. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Introduction and description of my background. Gain an understanding of the students background. A review of the current subject matter and the issues they are struggling with. The style of instruction I use. What I will do for them and my expectations of how they should prepare for our next session.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have fourteen years of education to include a masters degree. I have taught many students in math and science and all received a higher grade because of it. Many students call me at a later date to help them with a new course.
