FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
It's not complicated - it's customized, and varies with the type of issue. Aggression issues, for example, will reasonably cost more, whereas puppy training and basic training for dogs with no serious issues will cost less.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes, all the time. Seminars, conferences, books, DVDS, webinars. Trainers MUST stay current in the field. Recent courses include separation issues; resource guarding; scent detection; grooming.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was in a post-BFA teaching certification program in the 90s where I studied learning theory, and then became a Psych Major in the early 2000s. I realized I would rather apply the learning theory to working with animals than with people - although, the learning theory applies with people, too, and knowing it makes me a highly effective teacher-trainer. I always worked with dogs, from the time I was a child - but never thought of working with dogs professionally until 2001.
