Introduction: I am Life Master Theo Slade. I learned how to play chess when I was 6 and I have been playing for 14 years. I was England's top scorer at the World U16 Olympiad in China as an U12 and I have been writing a monthly column for the British Chess Magazine since I was 12; I am the youngest ever writer for the world's oldest chess journal!

Theo is very nice and always helps me the general principles that I overlook during my games. He is very patient and always makes sure I am following along with the lesson.

My kids absolutely enjoy taking lessons with NM Theo. He is very patient with them and welcomes any questions they have. They were very excited even after their first lesson as they began to not only learn new things about chess but, they also began to have a better understanding of the game as well. I definitely recommend taking lessons with NM Theo.

Theo is a very patient teacher. He is passionate about chess and he is striving to move up in the chess world. Many chess coaches no longer compete. I wanted to learn from someone who is actively interested in improving his game and ranking through tournament play.

Theo was a great instructor who helped bring my knowledge of chess to a further level of strategy, and helped me understand tiny details in every game I played

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I charge $50 USD/£40 GBP per hour. This includes my preparation for each lesson, extra time which I give every lesson, and an email after each lesson with the materials discussed.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

If you have any recent games, then you should send me them so I can determine your strengths and weaknesses and we will go through these games together.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am a Life Master and I rank in the top 0.8% of all US chess players. My peak FIDE rating is 2175 and my peak USCF rating is 2266. I have defeated GM Julio Becerra Rivero (2604).
