FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
When I was 13 or 14 years of age, I started listening to the Hot Mix parties on FM radio and started to become friends with many of the FM Radio DJ's and got totally interested in that field. In 1989 I went to broadcasting school to be an FM On-Air Personality, graduated in 1991 with honors, and then got some jobs working in FM Radio in the Denver and Colorado Springs markets. After doing this for a few years I found that being a nightclub and party DJ gave me much more freedom and creativity to express my talents, whereas FM radio DJ's are told what and when to play over and over again... NOT FUN...
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I mostly spin at nightclubs, pool parties, and other private events and functions. I have also been hired to do birthday parties, house parties, after hours parties, sweet 16's, home coming events, and corporate events where top 40 / high energy dance music was needed.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I would hire someone that has been in the industry and has a proven track record. Like me, the DJ should be very energetic, have a great attitude, easy to work with, and should be able to play music and choose songs by having the ability to read the crowd and make adjustments as needed. The DJ should also not be afraid to talk on a microphone and make announcements.
