- How did you get started doing this type of work?
PERSONAL INJURY EXPERT JEFF STARKER'S STORY My journey into this work began over 25 years ago when I was employed as an insurance defense attorney in Orlando, Florida. My role was to minimize the value of injury victims' claims to protect the insurance company's profits. This work was rewarding in terms of finances, but it left me feeling unfulfilled... I was skilled at pressuring personal injury attorneys into settling cases for less than their worth. Despite my success, I craved something more meaningful. A pivotal moment occurred when I had to defend an insurance company against a personal injury lawsuit due to a product defect. A man had suffered serious injuries from a faulty elevator design, and his life was irrevocably changed when he became an amputee. Despite the clear evidence that he deserved compensation, my duty was to defend the insurance company, which resulted in a low settlement. Although I achieved what was required of me, I felt that justice had not been served. This outcome, although legally correct, left me feeling empty. This case was a turning point for me. I made a decision that I would no longer represent insurance companies, regardless of the financial incentives. I left my lucrative defense attorney position to dedicate myself to helping Floridians who had been injured in accidents. Having experience as both an insurance adjuster and insurance defense attorney gives me a unique perspective and advantage in this field. I quickly earned a reputation as a formidable opponent, capable of taking on challenging personal injury cases in Florida. Today, I continue to handle a select number of high-value accident cases, committed to my clients' success.
