Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I can build a bond with any student in a month that would take many people a full year. This is not due to me being so amazing in of myself that people flock to me, but I strongly believe as an educator they do. This is simply due to the fact that my clients know I care. They are not a paycheck to me. Knowledge is too serious for that. My students are literally the future, but they are living in confusingly distracted lives, and I help them find the wonder in just learning that many have lost. My students see how much time I spend getting to know them, so that I can teach them in a way that is suited to their individual interests, talents, and learning styles, all while slowly bringing up the areas where they need work. I believe in consistency, honesty, and fairness, but I think learning also HAS to be made fun. I am also patient enough to listen and adjust my method as many times as it takes for a student to grasp something without getting frustrated. I am genuine in how much I love what I do, so even if someone hates the subject I help them with, they usually end up making gains they assumed were impossible, or not worth the effort, and that leads to a gained confidence and curiosity about what else is possible or interesting. I am happy and satisfied if I feel I've helped someone find the joy and power that comes with knowledge and the ability to connect ideas and disciplines that seem separate.

FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Do not cut corners by hiring someone with little experience. I find many clients come to me after they waste time with tutor in college, who probably has great intentions, but lacks enough in field experience, and that is where teachers learn the most. Teaching is less about theory and more about its application to real people. Things that can't be learned in a book such as the important ways to change lesson plans on the fly when a student needs particular accommodations, or ways of taking in information, that don't mix with the plan for the day. There is also a level of patience that comes from experience, and I maintain one cannot teach without patience. Often, I provide clients professional, experienced, effective tutoring for just a small amount more than the novice, but the time with the right tutor from day one is priceless.
